i have either a version 1.0 or 1.1 xbox with xecutor 2.0, i have backed up all my games but lately i have been getting the dirty disc error quite a bit. i thought id try and put in a original xbox game and i get unkown disc when i boot with modchip on or off. just wondered could this be the drive on the way out or something else. i am a total n00b to the xbox and now kids are older have decided to sort myself out and learn a bit more. Thanks in advance for the help.

try deleting the files in x, y, and z, and then e:\cache, but most likley it's a bad dvd rom. There like 40 bucks on ebay or anywhere from 50-70 from a dealer.
