Full Version: Realiable Ftp App For The Mac?
Scenyx Entertainment Community > Xbox1 Forums > Software Forums > Utilities that run on your PC (xbox related)
Mr. Roper
I'm currently using FlashFXP on my PC to FTP with my Xbox. I would like to dump my PC altogether and just use my Mac, but unfortunately I haven't been able to find a descent and reliable Mac FTP app that works well with my Xbox. I'm currently using Transmit on my Mac, but it doesn't transfer most of the files and doesn't allow me to create or edit folders. It also doesn't allow me to transfer from my Xbox back to my Mac. It just plain sucks when using it with the Xbox. Any Mac users out there using anything that works well? unsure.gif

Thanks for your help
Mr. Roper
Somebody emailed me about this one and it seems to be working just fine so far. It's called FTPeel. I can transfer back and forth, create and delete folders and it's fast!

Yes, it's weird. It is happening to me right now with the built-in ftp server in the x3. When I tried to backup everything from C and E to the Mac it created the whole tree structure but making folders with the names of files instead of transmitting the files themselves. I switched to Fetch which seemed to do the job in transmitting from the XBox to the Mac, but, as Transmit, it does not work the other way around because it does not create folders in the XBox.

I think it is something with the ftp commands that the x3 uses being some sort of special breed that Transmit or Fetch do not quite follow.

One thing to note is that connecting through a "ftp" command in a terminal window, and creating folders manually and copying files with unixish commands instead of the ones that Fetch and Transmit use in their "Transcript" logs it does work. But it is of course terribly uncomfortable.

I have read that TeamX has resolved some FTP issues in their upcoming release.

I had no luck at all with Mac FTP clients, btw, even with dashboard servers.

IMHO,
Transmit is one of the best FTP clients I've used on any platform.... ever - but it does seem to have issues with the some of the FTP servers running in software on the XBOX. I have a SmartXX and Transmit works just fine with ED@Chip (ftp server that runs on the modchip), it also works swimmingly with EVoX.. (I have had file transfers approaching 9+ MB/sec in recent history).

Transmit also works great when running UnleashX and MXM.

It does, however seem to not like the FTP server built into Avalaunch... I also get the 'folder' problem.. where when you attempt to download a file, you wind up with an empty folder named to whatever the file name you were trying to transfer was.

That being said, I am also using an evaluation copy of CuteFTP for the Mac (yes, there is one-- actually two) to FTP into the box when I'm running AVA. CuteFTP for some reason... seems to have 'issues' with EVoX.... (Connection problems, etc.)

I hope things work out for the transmit side... I've been using is since waaaay-back-when it was still called 'Transit' -- and any software company that takes the time and effort to put forth such a nice homage to Beagle Bros Software scores extra points with me too!

Hey all

Transmit has been updated to version 3.0.1 and it looks like its issues with Ava have been solved.
