the dvd i have is 7 gb big, so i need to put it on 2 dvds? can i rip it to a avi and just put the avi on a disc and it will load up the movie automatically instead of getting to pick options such as play and scene selection?

The best program I found for take a 6,7,8 gig movie and putting it on a 4.5 aprox dvd id dvd shrink 3.2, it's is freeware and all you do is put the movie in and you can pick either a full movie back up or reauthor and take just the movie and have it auto play like you said. IF you pick full movie back up with bigger movie the quality drops. So in that case you pick reauthor and take just the title 1 and drag add drop it into the left box and then go to backup and it will save it to your hard drive (you need aprox 10 gig available). ( The dvd shrink 3.2 also beats most css encriptions) from there you just use your favorite burning software (eg nero) and select the file with your movie and burn the dvd. Just rember that This is for backing up movie's you own wink.gif also make sure that your dvd player will play the media you are burning on (dvd-r, dvd+r,etc) the older one will not.

my resident evil that im trying to backup only goes to 14 or 15% then freezes on me. i cleaned the disc and it still freezes. whats wrong?

Iam not sure what program you are using but I have experanced that with dvd x copy plat, and the tryed clone dvd with the same movie and it worked fine, but like I said the best I have used is dvd shrink 3.2 and best of all it's freeware. So you can try a diffrent program, or mabey it's scrached or somethin, also make sure you turn off any other programs running in the background (for better results) eg I turn off my anti virus, msn messenger, etc

ok its done it with 3 different ripping software so far. it may be my dvd-drive. when i start up my computer, i get an error message and i have to press F1 to start up the computer. if i press F12, i set my dvd drive to slave drive and my cd-rom to the standard drive. i think i read somewhere that i need firmware for it. i dont know what that is tho.my dvd-rw/+rw drive is an optorite DD0405. any help would be appreciated.

If you have to push f1 to start your comp it is probley a bios confict your can go into your bios(usaly you hold Delete on start up and it will enter your bios, just check and make sure that your cd rom and dvd are set to auto and that should fix that. As far as you movie if it's just that movie that movie that is giving you problems it is more than likely that disk, it maybe scratched or somethin.
