I had about 3-4 upload errors with files like /content/lastbat/lascap.0.Y=200.png. Seems to be fatx related. I hope those are not really important.
Anyways, SC2x is another good example of how game experience changes with its platform. Star control seems to be made for the livingroom and big tv and a relaxing couch. :> Had this feeling with all Lucasfilm games as well. Great Port, Joker!

Thanks Joker, I'm enjoying the hell outta this classic game.
As far as bugs go, I think I may of found one. When I returned to my homeworld of Vela, there is an Ur-Quan vessel in orbit around the newly slave sheilded world. When you approach the Ur-Quan ship it replayed the drone message from the beginning of the game when you approached the earth. If memory serves me correct, there was a battle with an Ur-Quan ship, not a repeat of a previous message. Thanks!

BTW, I posted before that Fwifo was not apearing at pluto, but I checked again and found him there... sorry about that.
The multiplayer bug is still there (where both pads controll the same ship in a vs game), I want to know if someone else have that problem or if that is just I problem I have (configuration Maybe).
Thanks.
Javitole, no se por que tengas ese problema pero probablemente tenga que ver con el BIOS que tenga programado tu modchip o algun setup de tu dashboard.
A mi me funciona bien, y esto es lo que yo tengo:
Xbox V1.1
Bios 4981
Dashboards Avalaunch/Evolution X/ Unleash X

You can put the folder in any particion (E or F) and rename is as whatever you preffer. I have not tested it yet, but I do not see a reason of why the game would not run from the DVD drive.
The important thing is that you have the proper default.xbe. just grab the files from the link posted a few messages before in this topic, just run the aplication that will download the needed files and prepare the game, and transfer it to your xbox in a folder. that was all that I did.

The fact that its more than 100mb, plus its still unfinished even after all this time has means there is no way its going onto xbins. Hopefully, when its finished TJs magic downloader batch file package will get put on xbins along with the source code.

EDIT: I actually have most of the bugs sorted out, I just need to catch up with TJ sometime in the near future just to make sure we are done.

i talked to iriez a while ago and he was pleasantly surprised a working version of this was even released.
a very easy way to host this on xbins (more for availability of it, and the publicity it would put out, i think people need to know of this great classic) would be to host just the batch file (wich downloads from sourceforge) and the only illegal file, the default.xbe

the .xbe is very small, not bigger than any other xapp
the chunk is all the data files, wich are freely hosted on sourceforge anyways

Actually, that encounter is without combat, I beat the game with walkthrough on the pc version before I started playing on the xbox version.
To be honest, I had completely forgotten about this project at all. My personal life came sneaking behind me and gave me a nice son that can take over my projects in a few years. But that's not going to stop me from coding, so I'll see if I can manage to put out a new xbe and maybe kick out the sources within a week or so.
I might put up a extra cvs for it here at my place, and ask users to mail me for access or something. Gonna check the updates tmaul did tonight and put up a new xbe or something. I asked Iriez a few months ago if we could put up the game on xbins, and he said it was too big - it already took too much bandwidth, so we can't put it up there.

We have a few options to puting it on xbins:
-make it so the xbe runs with the pc packs and tell s users to downlaod the pc packs from sourceforge.
-just put the xbe on xbinx and gives instructions on hwo to make xiso file.
How does one get a copy of the source files ? I wouldreally hate having a harddisk incident and / or personal life make the work lost.
Thanks for the hard work

Any updates? I'm hoping this is dead

I've found (some?) of the movies:
http://www.classicgaming.com/starcontrol/3do/It links to shitty file planet and you have to register to be able to download... does anyone have the movies? I'm wondering if these are all of them.... I think not. From memory the movie pak was a few hundred megs? I only have the intro, outro and credits. What else is there?
And I assume I just unzip them and rezip them into the correct filename - which is what? I know you need to then change it from .zip to .uqm

yea, that seems to fix it. Fixed the rar-file for creating the game as well.
if you get a .1 it basically means it got disconnected from the download and tried over again without deleting the file that was already there. delete all uqm-files and restart =)
*edit* there's also a neat intro/ending pack somewhere that replaces the boring slideshow intro with a cool 3d intro instead. The bad thing is that I haven't seen it for download anywhere.
Full name : "uqm-0.4.0-3domovies.uqm" if you find it, lemme know. To "install it" just unzip it and put it into "content" dir =) ( yes, it's just a zip file ) hehe
*edit2*
also updated the xbe file to beta 1.1 =) some minor changes plus a neat icon.

Anyone here get these Ur Quan movies? It seems big, but would be a nice idea to seed it in a well know bittorrents sites out there ... btw I'm a little lost in the game (don't know where to go) but the never ending remining bug makes the game very easy

DAMN! i cannot tell you how f'ing awesome it is to play SC2 again. esp with 3do music and speech with no (or hardly any) loading times. compared to waiting 5 seconds for the pkunks respawn on the 3do version, this is a godsend.
quick question tho - i know that the pc version let you cycle between different audiopacks (orig/3do, etc). is there any way of doing this in-game or is it just a matter of copying over the audio packs i want to use?

Pablonfist
Apr 15 2006, 06:35 PM
Ah, ok.
I got the download from the jockers site too, and never had a problem with the speial attacks.
I played multiplayer with the computer with no problem, but when I tried to play against one of my friends, to my sad surprise both pads control the same ship...
I never played the story mode on the Xbox (have already on 3DO) but a friend of mine did and as far as I know, the 3 main bugs are that you can remine any planet, game crashes at the final battle place (that would suck very bad for any who play the game to finish the story mode for the first time at the xbox) and the multiplayer one (The one I wished was fix).
If any one know a Keys.cfg that works for multiplayer please let me know (unless is forbidden)

Thank you guys SO much for porting this. I played this game for a LONG time on the PC. Never got to the endgame of the single player, but got close. Maybe I'll get into it again. I think I still have the starmap that came in the box.
Anyway, just a quick question. Is there any way to exit Super Melee 2 mode? I just have to power cycle the xbox.
Also (just as a nitpick) it would be nice to restart the default dashboard when exiting the game. For me the screen just stays black.

I know it has been awhile but it would be really awesome and mean alot to me if someone fixed this up and finished it! Really speaking about the three-four bugs that still exist.
1. Ships aren't circling homeworlds (unimportant)
2. Freezes at the end (important)
3. Reminable planets (unimportant)
4. Super melee mode controller config (important)

Not to mention the source has had several big updates since the port.
Last time i spoke to joker in #avalaunch (6months+) he seemed totally uninterested in working on the project again.
When i inquired him about a possible source release, he left me with the impression of a very unoptimistic "maybe".
So pretty much the only chance we may see a completed port of this would be for someone else to pick up the newest sources and start over.
I think it is also listed as "maybe" in xport's list. But then again so are about 50 more games.
It's really an awesome classic game tho, and alot more suited to console+couch+TV play than the PC.

Getting a file from the horrible fileplanet that like the xbox auto update for this port, will let you dl whatever components you need for the pc version. I found this while doing a search for the movie files a few are having trouble finding (this includes me). If I actually get a hold of them will post more info here.
Does anyone have the newest key.config file? The updater tells me the link in the bat file is no longer valid (as well as the link that held the movies originally)
UPDATE: the UQM updater will update everything else but offers no movies option. Can anyone that has the movie files throw them up on a torrent site or rapidshare, etc? thanks
