Full Version: Frags When Installing Os

OK, I have had a number of woes with this installation already. Right now I have yet to actually get the chip working, as I am presented with a FRAG on every startup. The xbox works fine with the chip removed, so I am assuming the xenium is at fault here (I did the pinheader install).

It is possible to flip the switch and go into recovery mode. Seeing as the experts opinion is generally that it would be an OS problem at this stage, I have burnt the latest xenium OS to a cdrw and put it in the drive in recovery mode. The drive spins up, I get the message "Got from CD" and then the box just frags indefinetly. No shutting down, no joy when restarted out of recovery mode. It will stay like this for ever (I tried just leaving it for an hour to see what would happen)

I'm beating my head against a brick wall here! WTF is happening? Will I ever get this chip to work??

All help appreciated!

Interesting problem, but in any case, I've got a few ideas to try.. First, try reburning the recovery disc, possibly using the restor to defaults ISO instead of the standard on.. if still no joy, this could possibly be a soldering problem... You may have one weak joint on the pinheader that's preventing data from being written to... I'm going out on a limb here, but hey, you never know.. smile.gif Good luck biggrin.gif

I had the same problem Was a bum chip.

I installed it for a customer a few months ago. He told me that every once in awhile when he turned his machine on it did the three power cycles then frag.

He sent it to me, I got it to do it once so I did the recovery and it upgraded fine. But, then it began to do the same thing.

BMmods told me to just RMA the chip. Since then I have had three more do this.
