hello

i installed uix as my dash (no other present)
i put :
uix in E:\Dashboard
xbmc in E:\Apps
games in F:\Games
Emu in F:\Emulators

i moded the evox m8 bios to look only for e:\Dashboard\uix.xbe

it boots with no preblem...i added the fourth menu with xbmc

but when i go looking in the hard disk tab ...
the application tab works (xbmc shows up)
the games tab works
the emulation tab works...but its empty (no emu at this time)
but when i select the Dashboards tab...the uix reboots !?!

the default settings in uix.ini work with no problem
..then i modified the paths so that it looks only in F:\\Games F:\\Emulators ...E:\\Dashboard (not Dashboards) and E:\\Apps
and then nothing works ..keeps rebooting when selecting ..any of the tabs

why?

should i change the uix from dashboard to dashboards? why cant i choose other paths?

thnx
Kroff

btw...this dash is great! ;-)

comon issue.... you need a default.xbe in there... it's a bug. if it doesn't detect a default.xbe it errors out and reboots. I think it relates to how its referencing directory structure which would also be related to the ftp bugs

well...i put back the original ini ...with the exeption of the dashboards path...which i rename it from Dashboards to Dashboard.

i put all dashboards inside (uix is in the root -> e:\dashboard\uix.xbe ..others have their own sub dirs)

now the hard drive menu works ...but when i go in the dashboard tab ...there is no dashboard listed (Y does not show them)

i have to use the file manager to start other dashboards (mainly avalaunch ...for qwix)

hope this will be corrected in the next update ;-)

Hey kroff,

to answer your second question or concern...

Yes there is a problem with reading default.xbe and the <programname>.xbe files

UIX most prob searches for default.xbe first becuase of the <read title from xbe> option is enabled. Even if it is disabled, it wouldn't work. Since to run any software you would again need default.xbe biggrin.gif

kinda sad, but i don't really mind renaming my emulators, and dashboards files to default.xbe

For now that is the only solution.
Also, just an FYI (if you didn't know this already). If you have EvoX and you did not change the title inside the xbe file, and your <read title from xbe> option is enabled then you would see it as RemoteX. You can always change that by loading EvoX's xbe file into a HEX editor and change the name to EvoX or you can DISABLE the <read title from xbox> option.
Same goes with any other default.xbe file

Hope this helps (you might already have done this stuff and are prob really frustrated)

I have the same prob. if i put evox( the only dash i have try'd) in E:\dashboards and try to enter the dashboards menu, it is not listed, no help in refreshing with the Y button.

if i put Evox in the apps folder, it shows up when refreshing. no prblem there.

by the way, the first time i entered the dashboards menu it restarted. and when i go in after that the dash do not restart, but there is nothing there, and do not help to refresh.

The same thing happens if i delete the dashboards.cache under E:\udata\0ffeeff0\cache.
The first time after the delete the uix reboots when entering the dashboards menu.

But with Apps an games menus there are no problems not with refresh and not with deleting the cache files, they are just rebuildt without problems.

So to me it seems there are a problem when creating the dashboards.cache file.

Someone got any idea???
