Hello All, I just recently purchased a Xenium Ice. I have not installed it as I have been researching on just about everything that I could find on modding xbox's. I have a 1.6 xbox, and i have just got a seagate 120GB hard drive. Now my question is after installing the chip, I would like to be able to switch from one hard drive to the next, and i know that you can do that, but can you have the original hard drive stay original in that i mean that if you switch to that hard drive that it boots up like it has no chip installed, and when i switch to the other hard drive (seagate) that it would boot up as a modded Xenium OS so I can play burned games off of it. And if that is possible would I still be able to use Xbox Live?

Thanks in advance
chris

I have read all that crap, it really doesnt give a clear answer and i was trying to find out from someone who might be doing the same or has the same setup. sorry about the "games" i know it is illegal. i meant to say "backups".

1) Playing burned games is not overtly illegal. You just have to own the originals, and make the burns yourself (many people do this to keep kids/dogs/jerk friends from scratching/breaking the originals).

3) He never even came close to mentioning downloading games. Let's not argue fine lines, otherwise one would have to make the case that ripping a game one owns to the Xbox HDD to make it load faster is okay, but burning a copy isn't (and that dog don't hunt...).

3) So to answer, yes, you can do exactly what you're hoping to do, with some cable replacements and a swtich. To make to whole process easier, many people are using the Xtender.

You may want to look into it. smile.gif

Xombe thanks for the advice... and to make things clear, I meant no disrespect at all, i didnt even say anything about downloading, but iget your pont and no i dont even want to go there... thanks

Oh, don't worry. I was speaking to insane_clown of you when I said, "He never even came close to mentioning downloading games" (referring to the fact you, "he" in this case, indeed hadn't) and arguing against his blanket statement.

I just got distracted by the wife and your post slipped in before mine (heh, I was sitting at the post screen for like 15 minutes before I actually submitted it...)

Anybody that's got an Xbox and a 3 yr old knows the value of keeping your retails safe. wink.gif

Burn em and they get broken. Burn em and they get broken. I can afford a buck or two for a DVD-R, but I'll be damned if I'm gonna shell out 50 bucks every time a foot comes down in the/on the wrong place...

But, so long as you know well enough to keep the forums clean, then that is a good thing in itself. Go check out the Garbage Bin sometime and see all the threads that've been trashed for blatant "Hey, how do I join this 50-part RAR image?" and so forth.

Xtender is the way to go to make it easy and neat as Xombe said. If you want a basic exlplanantion as to the working behind 2 HDD it goes something like this.

You can have multiple drives connected to a single IDE cable as long as only 2 are powered at boot up. (DVD & HDD in the Xbox)

So you add a conector to your IDE cable to plug in an extra drive use a power spliter to provide power to both hdd 's and then put in a switch that lets you select which drive gets power.

So now you flick the switch to power the OEM HDD and disable your chip (easy on the Xenium) and your safe on LIVE.

PS Xombe

I know all about 3year olds and disks, mine is now 4 and slightly more carefull though. wink.gif

I didn't proof read my reply, i was ment to say "besides playing burnt games are illegal unless you have the originals, that is mentioned ".

Anyway what ItchyB said is what i would have replyed with.

Just an idea, you could hook the mod chip to your swirch for the hard drives, so whaen you boot the original teh chip is off and when you boot off your large drive, the chip is on..... just an idea

Good luck beerchug.gif
