Yes, you need EvoX to turn the Xbox into an FTP server if you want to transfer anything back and forth. It will also run apps/games off the hard drive, allow you to flash the bios on most modchips, etc etc etc...

evox has many more uses than that, think of it as a operating system.
it does have ftp, so you can access the xbox and copy, add, modify, or do whatever with files you want.
