hey dudes

first of all hi i am new and i come from germany so my english is not the best but i hope you will understand me:-))
i am trying to get this xirremote mod to work but untiil now i failed....
i dont own a xbox remote control so i thought i could use my universal rc5 remotecontrol but i need a hex file which supports rc5 is there anything available or can i somehow add my code of my rc?
maybe there are ppl who succesfully built this project ...i also have another problem..

this C1 0,1 capacitor what does it mean 0,1 farad or 0,1µF ??
mine is very big compared to the pic on the homepage...i have 5 volt for testing on "3,3stb" when i check the infrared receiver it only has about 1,1volt??
so i think there is something wrong with the capacitor..

so i hope at least some ppl understood where my problem is located :-))

thanks in advance and greetings from berlin :-))

The capacitor C1 is 100nF or 0.1uF this just goes across the power lines of the pic microcontroler. It is normally mounted as close to the pic chip as possible to reduce noise. You don’t really need this capacitor to test the xir for operation.

As for the voltage on the ir receiver what value resistor have you got for R2.

Hope it helps Bezel biggrin.gif

Tobad you allready built your XIR coz there is a better option out now. It's open source so you can change your buttons on the remote wich ever way you want AND it supports RC-5. So if you switch to that design it's possible. Otherwise you probably have to write your own program for the pic.

Check out my signature for the other design (XERC)
