how are you attempting to connect to live. and what happens or what error messages are you getting that's making you think live's not working?
If the chip's disabled and you're not able to connect to live - then it's not a problem with your chip. IT could either be a problem with your dash files... or, more likely, your internet connection.

When you boot your custom dashboard (evox, avalaunch, etc), it changes your the IP of your XBOX. If you want to go on Live, boot regularly with your disc NOT in the XBOX. Choose Xbox Live, then connect, then when it can't connect, choose "enter troubleshooter" On the first 2 settings, change them from manual to automatic. Leave the last 2 options alone, then choose "connect". Now put in your Halo 2 and play away. After each time you boot with your chip on, you'll need to do this. Don't worry, you'll get good at it. Also, you can enter the troubleshooter from within Halo 2, but booting the game, then entering the troubleshooter and rebooting the game is redundant.
