I want to set up two computers so they can send files to one another, and play games against each other.

i have a laptop and my desktop, and a crossover cable.

i dont know what to do?

i connected the two, they come up as local area connection 100Mbs but how do i actually send stuff? and when i click on the button that comes up, it says packets sent: something high like 100, then packets recieved: 0? is that supposed to be?

im sorry if this is basic, but i have no clue, i read a tut on google, it sayed join the crossover and start sharing files... wtf?
