Eagles 34
Pats 31

...lets keep the flames down in this thread.

I think this game is going to be a smash mouth football game but in the fourth quarter the patriots will have what it takes to overcome Donavan Mcnabb and the eagles and wn by a decent margin

Patriots 35

Eagles 24

Eagles 34
Patriots 17

I think the eagles will surprise everyone, take the lead early and never give it up.

You know I'm a huge eagle fan...however you got to think realisticly. TO will probably play, but he won't be a factor in the game. The biggest thing we have about him playing is that the patriots will still have to form a game plan around him. he will only play about 1/4 - 1/3 of the game and he will only be about 75% of his full ability.

But it will be great to see him back on thje field

NE: 74

I'm also going to predict that Paul McCartney has a "wardrobe malfunction" during the halftime show and that Andy Ried will suit up and play starting tighend himself.

ProSam
Not just because I'm one of the biggest Pats fans ever but because I think the Pats have the ability and will do it. The Double Digit Blowout!

Pats: 41
Eagles: 23

Though I also think it could be a tough battle with both defenses being so good.
So here is a second score for ya.

Pats: 38
Eagles: 24

We can predict all we want but it's up to those players and those coaches to execute and call their best game all year.

I'm not saying TO is going to score 3 touchdowns or anything (although he could) but when he is on the field teams have to RESPECT that. Therefore most of the coverage (on a team that is already beat up in that department) will be focused on him even if he doesn't make a single catch.

This opens up the game for Pinkston, Mitchell, Westbrook, and Lewis. It just makes the Philadelphia offense that much easier to run.

Except that Lewis is missing the Super Bowl with an injury.

I think the Eagles can move the ball and score a few points. One could contend however that Philly only played one truly top notch team all year, and they lost 27-3 in that game.

It all depends on how much they go crazy. Miami beat New England by taking chances and throwing the ball deep down the field. People have been throwing the ball short, trying to take advantage of the corners, and that hasn't worked. New England plays smart defense, and they hit hard. If you want to beat them, you do it with speed, and a deep ball.

McNabb has the arm. TO could be a huge factor. That is if they take chances, but most coaches see a quality opponent, and play that much more conservative because of it.

And that gameplan has failed consistently against New England over the past two years.

i'm hearing that everywhere now. Dawkins said it best sunday, we get no respect and will continue to get no respect no matter how good we play.

everyone is focused on new england, yea they are a good team but they are not a team that is going to come out and dominate us. I honestly believe these are two greatly balanced teams. We have the playmakers just like they do. And you don't want to mess with Jim Johnson's defense.

I mean...MY GOD PEOPLE! has anyone here watched an eagles game all season, we are not the same team from the past 3 years, we aren't making mistakes like we once did. Mcnabb has grown so much around this team that he honestly could bring that lombardi trophy home for us.

The patriots are playing for "just another win". yea i know..dynasty...whatever, doesn't matter to us, because we are playing for the respect of the nfl and everyone who watches it. We have something to prove. And we normally step up when we are the chosen underdogs. Anyone who thinks this is going to be a blowout by the pats should take a look back at the eagles season.

maybe take a look at those two playoff games that, "the eagles can never win without TO... and even if they had TO they still couldn't beat Vick and Atlanta". I'm sick of everyone turning down my team. We got to the nfc conference game 4 years in a row, sure we lost three but it takes a hell of alot of skill to get there that many years in a row. We finally get over the hump and already we are labeled that we don't have a chance. This superbowl is cryin for an upset, they are setting up the stage for a repeat of superbowl XXXVI, only this time it will be the under appreciated eagles to take down the "gods" that are the new england patriots.

this is the superbowl people, anything can happen. And I stand by my prediction that the agles will win late by a 30+ yard kick from ackers. However I may have to change my score prediction, I don't think this will be the high scoring game I once thought it would be. This will be a defensive game all the way.
enderandrew
Sure the Eagles have a chance. Anything can happen on any given sunday. And I hope the Eagles pull off the upset. I just wouldn't bet against the Patriots.
Rylinkus
If the Pats get in a bus wreck on the way to the stadium and only half of there players arrive then I'll pick Philly. Til then I'm expecting NE. I'd rather see Philly win myself as it would be nice to see McNabb get a Ring, but he may have to settle for trying to buy one from one of the New England players that has too many. wink.gif
enderandrew
The last time I saw everyone picking the game so one-sided, the clear favorite (Rams) got beat by the then-upstart New England Patriots.
Rylinkus
Oh come on, be realistic. NE is a phycial team on defense and Philly is a Finesse team. They're gonna get knocked around worse then Indy. How many hits will it take for Pinkston to start hearing foot steps and dropping balls? Or Westbrook to get tired out?

With TO I'd think they had a fighting chance. He is capable of going into the middle and making plays and getting hit. But even if he is back he's not going to be anywhere near 100%. And won't play all game. And frankly I'm not even buying him playing.
enderandrew
Philly didn't have the number 1 defense in the NFC by playing as a weak finese team. Finesse teams don't end up with top defenses.

Are you saying that McNabb is a finesse player? He outran Vick. Did you see some of the hits the defense put on Vick last week?

Westbrook isn't a power back, but this isn't a weak team. Either way, that's now how you beat the Patriots. It didn't work for Pittsburgh last week. The more plays you make, the sooner you will get out-schemed, or make a mistake. You beat New England with quick strikes down field, if you're going to beat them at all. TO would help in that regard, but it's not absolutely necessary.

And for what it's worth, I'm not sure if New England has faced a good dual-threat QB in the past two years. It may be the wrinkle their defense can't handle.

Don't get me wrong, if I had to bet, I'd bet on New England. But I wouldn't say that Philly has no chance.

I totally disagee. I can acutally believe NE winning 47-23 or whatever it was. I'm not a New Endland fan. And I DO like Philly. But I honestly think they'll be lucky if they don't get embarassed. They've beat mediocre teams at best all year long. When they did have a formidable opponent (Pittsburg) they got humiliated. And this was WITH Owens. Convincingly beating the Vikings and Falcons doesn't prove you're a great team. Convincingly beating Pittsburg and Indy ( The number 1 defense and Offense in the NFL respectively) does.

You can make any arguement you like about Philly's defense, but they're the best in the pathetic NFC. New England had no issues with the best in the NFL.

42-23 isn't ridiculous to me. Thinking Philly's gonna win is. And sadly it's what I'd prefer to see. I think we need to be realistic and think it may not happen.

Did the mayor of Boston sign a deal with the devil?

BoSox win the world series for the first time since 1918.
The Patriots are favored in the Super Bowl.
Boston College is one of 2 undefeated teams in college basketball.
And since no one is playing hockey, all the other teams forfeited, and The Bruins are going to be awarded Lord Stanley's cup.

Not trying to bag on a solid season. They've done well and were great with TO.

But......

Time will tell man. I really like McNabb. I really like Kearse. I just am very skeptical of a team that I don't think has played well with one of the top tier teams this year. (Indy, SD, NE, Pitt, and Philly w/ TO.) They played Pitt and lost bad with TO. Without him I think they're in a lot of trouble. I was optimistic all year for them. I was excited about TO and hoped the Eagles could make a run since I was sure The Pack and Bears wouldn't. They have, but now find themselves in the big game without one of their most important players. I think they're in a lot more trouble then people think. If they'd played some of the big NFC teams and done well I'd give them a lot more credit.

BTW: for all you believers. Just tell me why I should believe?? Who have they beat that's worth noting? What have they done that puts them in the same class as NE who set a record long winning streak? Who beat Pitt and Indy to be here? I'm sorry. Accomplishments vs. accomplishments NE looks like a MUCH better team.
