ok, so after months of having no problems, my xbox keeps loading cromwell wanting me to flash the chip. i use the disk i've used on many xboxes, it flashes fine, but when i turn it on again (even though i flip the external switch to the other bank as i always have when i used to not get problems) it loads cromwell again. what is going on?!?!

cromwell always flashes bank 1 so make sure you are booting from bank 1

yes, sounds like your flashing a 512kb bios while booting bank 2. I did the exact same thing once when I tried flashing my first chip. when flashing with cromwell, I always make a 1 mb bios, with cromwell and my other bios. and i always flash from bank 1 as already suggested

So what you are saying I have to load an up dated verion of cromwell bios. This was an extra chip I had around has cromwell 2.27. I don't have a programmer...is there any other way to install new cromwell bios??? FTP???
