have tried using multiple CD-R brands, Memorex CD-RW(although i've heard they never work) and now Sony DVD-R.
it will not read any of these discs... any recomendations?
it's a 1.6box with 2.6ce chip. i'm so tired of burning cds I've followed the xecuter flashbios tutorial to the letter everytime i burned them too

if for some reason you got a bum drive, you could do a network flash
Edit: Actually, I have never heard of anyone doing this, but it is an option on the menu, and I saw a tutorial on it once.

If you could let us poor phillips owners know where you can flash them that would rock. I was thinking about taking the drive putting in the PC and flashing it to see if that works. Usually Phillips are fairly outstanding readers I know for normal purposes any how.

christ, i'm a fuckin ubern00b. i've done tons of 2.3's, but i've not been doing any mods lately... i assumed i knew what i was doing b.c of my previous experience, so i breezed through the instructions and missed the section about the new set of wires for the hdd/lan led AND.... the d0 wire. so i didn't even have that installed. i figured the lpc rebuild included that.
sorry guys :-/

i tried a total of 7 dvd media's found one that works.
the maxwell dvd-r they had them on sale at office depot few weeks back and they just happen to be flawless so far.
the other 6types i tried were all different brands of dvd+r's and they booted but hung in the game. most of corse were cmc which suck. but other like fuji and one other good non cmc also didn't work.
