I'm going trough the dreaded HD upgrade. For months I have been using a 20gig that I have been through a lot with. But I bought a 160Gig and transferred all the crap from the 20 gig onto my comp. When I try to FTP to the xbox with the new drive, it repeatedly lags, and if it lags too long, anything I use will timeout and tell me the connection was lost, and I have to try again. It usually doesn't get very far. Any ideas?

Ping the xbox IP with the -t switch. This will send a continuos flow of
packets to the xbox NIC until you hit control/break. Let it ping for about
30 -60 seconds. If you have any lost packets, timeouts, or high ping
times then its a problem with the network itself. Try replacing the cable.
There could be many other reasons for this (the HD you just installed,
the ftp program, etc..) but this would be a good starting point to initially rule out a networking problem.
