Hi guys,
I recently installed an xecuter 2.6 in a friends 1.6 xbox, the chip worked fine and booted up with FlashBios. I then tried flashing the chip via http, which appeared to work fine. The xbox turned itself off after it had finished, so i turned it back on. At this point it rebotted 3 times before flashing red and green with no signal on the TV. Im pretty sure i have installed the wrong bios, in which case i will need a programmer, but i have also read that this could be a soldering fault.
Any Ideas?

I have the same problem. I think I also installed the wrong bios. I was wondering if there is a way to reset the bios or reinstall the bios with out the programer once the orignal boot screen has been deleted.

The second bank wasnt flashed when the chip arrived which is a pain, but i flashed the first bank with the X2 4983 - 256k bios.

Sounds like one of the pinheader solder points has worked loose
Try removing the modchip and gently press on each header pin & you may find that one of them moves (you must be careful not to push too hard, or you may cause another problem).
I had the same problem, and although the pins looked soldered & OK, one had worked loose when I had taken my mod chip out & pressed it back in!
Good Luck!!

Hey I'm pretty new but I too just installed a 2.6 in a 1.6 xbox and everything works good. I used m8plus_16. I believe that is the one you use on 1.6b xboxes. if you have a 1.6a it is recommened to use the m8_16 not the plus. There is also a m8. Which i believe can be used on any xbox from what i have read. For a 1.6 xbox though you have slim choices...either the m8_16 for a 1.6a or a m8plus_16 for a 1.6b. The only problem I am having with it is when I try to back a game up to my hd using the hd game management utility there is a message in green writing on the bottom that says "you modchip does not support the eject/reset trick" so this does not allow me to back up games. Don't know why does anyone else know why this is happening........any help please???

A Major issue is that the bios needs to be 512k as well.
if you're using the m8+ you will need to flash it to bank 2 of your chip.

Edit: just noticed another part of this post, porchop, did you use bank 1 or bank 2 for your m8 bios, it doesn't like being on bank 1.

Yet another one who used the wrong bios. So tonight I'm gona try to reflash it using the 007 exploit and evox (turning the mod chip on after) Wish me luck I'll let you all know if it works.
