This is wierd.
If I run my MameX stuff from the HDD, everything works fine.
If I burn an ISO image to a CD of the exact same directory,
I can only get games to work up to the 'M' listings.
The rest then give an error message back "..Could not find roms"
when I try to start it.
If I burn M-Z by itself on a CD, they run just fine.
I'm just wondering if there is a rom file limit in mamex.. And if so, why does it work of the HDD. If all the roms are present?

And.....
If I delete, say, the first half of the roms.. (up to M)
and I reburn the CD, M-Z roms work fine.
It seems like there is some kind of Rom 'limit'
even though I never heard of such a thing.
And... We are not talking a LOT of roms.. maybe 150 total...
any ideas?

Doh. No, I'm not filling the CD - just buring the necessary files and a few roms...
Not much of the CD is used at all..
That will cause problems?
:saying the above in a serious tone, to not give away my newbie status:
So, now that I've given my self away....
Could you explain your 'filling of the CD' a little more?

Thx.

"Filling" as in USing up a full 650mb on a rd-rw or 700mb on a 80min cd-r
These chud explain why your only getting some! place all ur roms in a folder and see what the total filesize is!
it would just make me laff if u where actualy trying to Burn more then a cd could fit on it

I'm using a total of only like 200MB of the 700MB CD-RW.
I have more roms, but only have a selected bunch that I wanted to put on my MameX CD.
So I should fill up the CD more, eh?
I don't understand the reasoning.. but thats why I'm a newb!!

Using xiso will give this type of problem. Find another isomaker, one that uses GDFImage. You don't need to fill up the CD. I think the other guy thought you were trying to burn more than would fit on the CD, but as I understand it, that's not your problem.

There was a limit on the older versions of MameX. I think it was something like 75 roms per CD, I'm not sure if that still applies.

Thanks for the suggestion.. Yup, that's it.
The limit of 75 roms.. Well.. That kind of blows...

Urrm, maybe you could use a menu to launch into several different directories, and have a copy of MAME in each, at least you would be able to fit more on a CD/DVD.

Makes sense to me.. a different copy of MameX in different directories, right?
I haven't made a menu/multi boot CD yet..
Is it tricky?

I have MameXB6 on DVD-R, with the entire 0.65 ROM Set, excluding a few of the really large ROM's, and it loads the game list fine.... Most of the games work too. (Some of them don't work because MameXB6 was based on 0.61 of Mame, not 0.65, plus this is still a Beta App.)
I am using Ritek DVD-R's using ISOMaker.
