Ok, I got my X3, all is well, I have the crystal clear xbox v1.6, and well...I opened the case (the easy part) and my dad, which is the soldering guy in the house smile.gif just freaked out !! he said that "it's a job for a robot" and showed me how NOT-easy it wold be to put the x3 without screwing something....

In general he said that teh soldering points are too small, and teh fact you have also to do something on the other side of the board + the small distances, make it all a fuckable thing, which I can kiss goodbye.

Of course he has the right tools, and the big magnifying glass, and even a Welter iron 12W (in the tutorial they used 15W) .... but he is afraid to burn it....and thus, me still waiting for him to find the courage/time to do this mad.gif

Can anybody tell me that it's possible ? I have also Playstation 2 with messiah 2, and well, I bought it already modded, and when I saw the diagrams of the messiah I almost fainted !! the PS2 is like 10 times much harder to mod, and that is the only thing that calmed my dad....when he saw the PS2 can be modded (had no problem with it what so ever) he thinks that just MAYBE the xbox can be done too. (the PS2 has actually points you have to solder on the CHIP LEGS !! like, one milimeter wrong, and you can wait for the PS3)

So, any advice ? any success with this x3 and v1.6 ?

(I ordered the x3 because I heard good things about it, and well, I always knew the xbox is easy to mod with no hassle...bummer sad.gif )

(By the way, when I mentioned that TV techs repair boards, my dad almost took apart my tv just to show my the distances between the chips on the board)

It really is simple.

Just tell your Dad not to go all commando on the board and hove the iron where it doesnt belong tongue.gif

Really though, if you just follow the tutorials on the computer you'll be fine.

If your Dad doesn't really want to do it just tell him to teach you how to solder and you can do it. It really is a beginners job.

Good luck cool.gif

I've only been soldering about a year and a half and I have NO problems with doing 1.6's. If he has any more than about 6 months of experience he should have no problems.

Well, 1st of all thanks to all for the replies.

Well, 45 minutes....man....that really DOESN'T sound hard... I am a model builder, and I know what patience and time is....45 minutes is a breeze...

Now, for the 14er here...damn kido, I am a bit older, but if you can do it....I can too !! :-) (Don't take it hard :-) )

Well, I guess I will just show my dad this thread :-)

Thanks guys, I just needed to know that it can be done !

(And well, he has soldering skills, more than me that is (I am on zero))
