i got the ps2 hdd for $40 at circuit city during one of their recent sales.
i was gonna flip it on ebay and make like $20 out of it but im wondering if i could use it on my xbox (it is a regular pc hdd) but im wondering if its worth in terms of value ($40 for 40gb) and the fact that its 5400 rpm.
what do you guys think? i wanna use it to store games on my xbox and play them off the hard drive.

The xbox can use any standard IDE hard drive - as far as drive speeds go - the 5400rpm drive is no match for what other drives can offer- but when placed in an xbox, you most likely wont notice a performance increase.
As far as drive capacity goes - 40gigs isn't much room... but it's a good start over the stock hard drive.
Depending on how much space you use - you may find yourself haveing to delete games to make room for new ones quite frequently.

if you had an xtender case i you could probly use it just for roms and mp3's,
but i wouldnt waist my time on it.
make it a back up drive for your pc or something.

i use a 40 gig in my box b/c i dont have any backup games on the drive i only have apps emulators and roms and its full so if you plan on putting games on it you will probably not get more than 10 i would sell it on ebay make a little money and buy something from an online retailer b/c they would most likely be cheaper than a store

Yea if I were you I'd just flip the PS2 HD and buy a 160gig or larger drive with the money you get (well after rebates...last 160 I bought a week ago for a mod cost me $50 AR).
