because ive seen damn near ever xbox n the scene and no one had it so i thought it didn't exist

HAHA that dust buster idea sounds awesome.
heres an idea if you want your jewel to be original, make the jewel spin whenever there is hdd activity. If you dont know how to do that check out all the tutorial on how to get the hdd activity light and then instead of putting a light in put in the motor. If you dont have enough power i believe instead of taking power from the 5v wire on the hdd you can take it from the 12v, but im not sure so double check.

i was kinda thinking on making my jewl into a button.
like mounting a small flat push button under the jewl.
i could be like a secondary on/off eject button.
or a button to turn on/off lighting mods or somthing.

Already done:
My HDD Activity Motor mod

except it isn't the jewl. I used a stepping motor so that it turns only one click for every hdd click. --vs a regular motor that would coast to a stop and whatever.

also, I'd advise against wiring a motor straight to IDE pin 39. spike created when ever the motor is powered as the magnetic field forms and collapses could kill the drive logic board.

I alway's thought the spinning jewel mod was really pointless...unless you make it look like a saw or something.
