Alternate remote control usage with XBMC would be awesome. I bought

I remember reading somewhere that you can use other remote controls with XBMC. Altho i could be wrong, I was doing a lot of reading on MythTV and XBMC, it could be MythTV im thinking about....

Did you search. It has to be a programmable remote (universal) and you program it w/ the RCA code.

It was obviously MythTV i was reading about then.
But ... since MythTV wasn't written originally for the xbox, and was around before hand... the documentation was misleading....
It says somewhere in there to use lirc to configure you're remote control, but it seems the xbox IR module will only pick up codes from an xbox (or RCA) style remote.
Im in the middle of an experiment... I'll be sure to post my findings.
