My mate brought a brand new xbox 1.6 and tried to softmod it but didn’t work and now when we boot up it frags and says error 16 which I know is cos of the evox dash is there a way we can restore it we have a broken 1 with evox on the dash can I unlock the harddrive and do a swap….

I tries unlocking the harddrive and swapping it but still didnt work¬

Not unless u have the eeprom.bin from that xbox, if so, u can make a xboxhdm and fix the hdd in ur pc...if not, u will need to install a modchip to fix this.
Biff24
What about if i changed the harddrive put a 40gig in will i be abel to get round it like that ?
Xombe
No. Read about Error 16, and you'll find you need a fully working MS Dash to fix your problem.

JohnnyHunng
To be able to use that 40GB hdd u will need to build it and lock it in ur pc, and to do that, u need and xboxhdm with the eeprom.bin from that xbox on it...otherwise, u need a modchip.
Xombe
Even a modchip won't necesarily get your past a clock error. You need a good, locked HDD with a working MS Dash on it, and most likel a swap at the end of the day...

2. This is the more easy and newbie friendly strategy
-Get a friend with a modded xbox.
-Unlock his hdd with eeprom management from a slayer evo-x cd.
-Than, place his hdd in your xbox.
-Boot with your chip on.
-Now the xbox DOES find a dashboard when you boot in original mode and you can set the time in the msdashboard clock settings.
-Shut off xbox and remove your friends hdd
-PLace his hdd back in his xbox and lock it again
-Install your hdd
-(clock has been set) So boot up with slayer cd.
-Install normally whatever you wanna install
-lock hdd

Sure it will, install the mod, boot slayers, ftp in and repair the hdd or just rebuild it with slayers...

Although ur right, if he's in a clock loop then he wouldn't be able to launch slayers...in that case he would need a whole new hdd, and modchip and slayers.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I meant...

Thanks for helping out. smile.gif
