1.
Download:

01.03.05.user.interface.x.dash.rar
01.03.05.user.interface.x.dash.audio.and.fonts.rar
Replacement.UIX.XBE(MAKES.UIX.WORK.WITH.ALL.BIOSES.EVEN.1.6).rar

get all of them!

2.

Make a folder on your pc named UixInstall (or something you'll remember).

Extract "01.03.05.user.interface.x.dash.rar" to it. there will be a readme a folder called "user.interface.x.dash" and an xbe named "uix.xbe".

Extract "Replacement.UIX.XBE.rar" to the same folder overwriting the existing one with the new one and rename to "evoxdash.xbe"

Extract "01.03.05.user.interface.x.dash.audio.and.fonts.rar". Place the extracted audio and fonts folders inside the "user.interface.x.dash" folder.

3.

Now still inside the "user.interface.x.dash" folder browse to the "system" folder (\user.interface.x.dash\user.interface.x.dash\system) and open "uix.ini" with notepad.

here you need to set paths to your applications/emulators/games etc. You will see near the bottom something like this:

Path=apps
Name=Applications

Path=apps is what the name of the folder on your xbox harddrive is called (could be different for you) Name=Applications is The title for it you will see in the dash. No need to set drive paths - UIX scans all drives for your set paths ie e:\games. f:\games etc.

hers what mine looks like:

[Applications]
Path=apps
Name=Applications
[Dashboards]
Path=dashboards
Name=Dashboards
[Emulators]
Path=emus
Name=Emulators
[Games]
Path=games
Name=Games

Make your changes and save the file then Ftp all of that to the root of C drive (four files will fail to copy this is normal, and intentional) You should have just copied about 113 megs to you Cdrive.

Your Cdrive should look like this:

heres what it looks like installed alongside the original msdash on C

Note: for UIX make sure all yr actual apps/games/emus/dashes are in there own folders inside your set paths not in subfolders. all xbe's should be named default.xbe.

Let me be the first to say "Great Job". This should clear up things for alot of noobs.

so... inside the folder user.interface etc etc... why are only fonts and audio included... what about system and all the rest?

I think the reason to that is, because the fonts and audio folder will always stay the same. So while the other files and folders change, it would be better if they would cut audio and font folders out. So youre not dling 30megs, your only dling 15megs(not sure on how big the size is). You got it?

can you tell me what the file names are for the files that dont get copied to the xbox?
gasclown
um sure... here's a pic:

that's for newbs. you could always edit the bios and have it point to a certain location for the dash file. but that's for us smart guys

Thank you so much for the tut. I couldn't of figured it out w/o it, this coming from a noob.

But i have a question. I download a skin and the directions said to apply green-nocellwalls-orbs. I download the tHc file with it and it says to patch it. What does that mean, what is patching.

the skin is http://www.allxboxskins.com/vote-comment/v...ash&display=yes

Please help
dakk
sorry, double post
KyesaRRi
lol i told u b4, PIDS PURPLE DASH is a M$ Dash skin, NOT a UIX skin

It patches the .xbe, but DONT DO THAT, cos it is for the m$ dash or tHc NOT UIX

Each dash [UIX, tHc] uses a different skin config, uix uses .xbx files with presets in it, while tHc uses a patch for the .XBE

I can make it a UIX skin if u want it that bad, all u gotta do is ask...
dakk
that would be wicked nice of you. Would you please. It would help so much
KyesaRRi
It wont be exactly the same as PID's, and i hope he doesent mind that im re-making his old skin

I'll submit it under UIX skins on allxboxskins under pid's purple lightning Kye remake

Be up in a few days

Later
dakk
Thanks man. Say, you would be willing to explain how you did it? just curious

Well, its fairly easy

You can open the hexbe patch up with hexbe, get the color offsets and write them in with notepad, then fill in the gaps with that "DIGITAL BLOOD" app

thats how i like to port skins

lol digital blood makes it so much easier to make skins for UIX, my first skin was written with notepad.

It isnt done yet, it is way too pink and blue but i'll eventually get around to it, after my hangover...
KyesaRRi
The skin keep on turning up like a POS

[Its either me or i didnt really try]

I think i'd better leave this to PID or Gasclown, as its PID's skin and Gasclown is the bomb when it comes to skinning
gasclown
this is soooo offtopic lol. you wont have much luck converting a lite or orig preset to uix unless you know exaclty what the materials do -but you could just use the purple preset from uix....
KyesaRRi
I allready knew that gas, but thx anyway

it worked out for the most part, just some materials really pissed me off, like being blue, or red, i gave up... "Snakes, natures quitters"
jjjjlong
Thank you! Finally Now I can do that to my box!! Gee i was a total noob i thought i was just supposed to take em contents and overwrite the MSDash with them!!! laugh.gif Gee now I know I wasn't!! Ahh looking good!! Thanks!! beerchug.gif

Ummm surely if you have an auto installer like Krayzie's u could just replace the files in the dashboard folder to make it ur default dash.
MenaceOfMen
Man I TOTALLY wish that someone would make an auto-installer for noobs like me. I want the dash but dont want to screw it up and lose everything I have on my evox dash lol. I got a 160 gig hd in it with maybe 15 games and a ton of apps and skins and stuff. I know to back everything up on my pc but still. If I make a permanent mistake it'll suck. Also I dont feel like taking 3 days off just to learn how to install it...
gasclown
its really not that hard - get all the files relating to the dash, drop em on c renaming uix.xbe to what yr bios boots (i garantee it'll boot "evoxdash.xbe" if youve never edited it).
MartyMcFly
Ummm.I dont know about that. I tried to rename the UIX.xbe to evoxdash.xbe and put it on my C drive with my other dashboards(and the rest fo the UIX files) and next time I booted the xbox I it got to the x logo and rebooted itself over and over again. No matter what bios I was using...Good thing my slayers boot disk still loaded or I woulda been crying...
gasclown
ummmmm, i do know about that... i know it very well. the only reason it would reboot constantly is if there are files missing. if you followed the tute on the first page what yr saying is impossible.
