I have a 40 gb and a 60 gb and I was wondering if I could put both of these in my modded xbox and have a 3 way ide cable, and if my xbox would recognize them both at once and use 100 gb of storage?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

not if you have the cd-rom installed. if you do not then it may be possible to use 2 drives. I have not tried this myself though.

Why does it matter if the cdroms installed?

I think its because one end of the IDE must go into the mobo, one into the cdrom, and one into hdd1, meaning no more plugs of the IDE cable.

Linux is the only option that will support more than 1 hd at a time. You can install a switch for the power, allowing you to boot to use one drive or the other.

The reason it would matter is the IDE controller on the xbox does not support more than 2 devices per IDE port... if you put a cable in a computer with 4 connectors and hooked 3 devices up and hooked it to the mobo it would not work either.
thanks caster I was not quite sure on that. And the switch is a proven method for having more than 1 hd in the box.

According to Caster linux is the only thing that supports 2 drives.

The xbox can't access more than one drive at a time (except when running Linux). You can however have more than 1 HD installed and choose which one to load from when turned on. I use the Xtender2 mod ( http://www.teamxtender.com/modules.php?op=...ions&file=index ) which works well since the release of the new Hydra cable. It supports up to 3 hard drives plus the DVD.
