I recently posted this question:
My friend (who i modded xbox and put in new hd + like 20 games) tried to load xbox live without realizing what would happen. Now everytime the xbox starts up it goes into ms dashboard automatically. Is there anyway to get it back without losing the games and does the link below show how to fix it or is that something different?

And recieved this response:
Your MS dash was not xboxdash.xbe, EvolutionX was. When you install Live, it overwrites xboxdash.xbe with the new Live dash. So, you just have to FTP the EvolutionX dash back onto your HD as xboxdash.xbe BUT BUT make sure you rename xboxdash.xbe to msxboxdash.xbe before you do this

I tried it but it didn't work the first time and i noticed that the xbox turned on and then off (3 times) which i knew was a sign of the mod-chip being not alligned (easily fixed) since this has happened before. So this time i turned it on and it worked and it loaded to evo-x dashboard and i shut it off to take it upstairs to my computer. However, when i got up and turned it on, it just went to the msdashboard time and then to error 05 without evo-x at all. I tried many disks and different combos but nothing seemed to work. How come it worked the first time?
Error 05 means: kernel - HDD not locked (retail bioses require the hd to be locked)
How come it worked the first time and i didn't recieve this error? Do i need to lock it...then do what...and will locking it erase all the games off of the hd?

THANKS

I would guess that you chip has moved again but this time it is your D0 point misaligned

If your D0 point is misaligned it will boot up the original XBox bios and that is why you are getting the error code for an unlocked hard drive

If your xbox refuses to boot (3 resets / red/green light problem) it means that you LPC pins are misaliged but your d0 (g-spot) pin is aligned. This is because d0 is connected (and trying to override the original bios) and is 'calling' upon connections on the LPC but is not finding some which makes it reset.

You will not lose any games by locking your drive
Use CofigMagic to lock it

OK...somebody eles also mentioned that it is because of my chip. So all i need to do is reallign the chip right?
