I've looked through the tut's and searched the forums, but haven't seen this specific topic. huh.gif

Backing up a game from my HDD to a disc (DVD-R)

I had the original disc, copied it to my HDD, my youngest made short work of my original. cussing.gif I want to have a Hard copy (DVD) backup of the game again just in case.

I think it would go something like this...(please correct where wrong).

1. FTP game from HDD to PC
2. Use Qwix to convert to ISO,
3. Use Qwix to convert to optimized ISO
4. Burn to disc.

I think I can skip the patching xbe part with Qwix because when I copied the game to HDD originally with DVD2Xbox it patched the xbe's at that time?

So if that works it would be just a backup, not like the original?

Would I need to modify the xbe's to be able to play the game as if it were the original on Xbox live under the M$ Dash?

Thanx for the help in advance. And if I completely spaced a tut or this topic being covered already... I ask for a point in the right direction (while humbly backing up and hoping to not get flamed) muhaha.gif

Yes it's possible. That's what I do sometimes.

Thanks for the quick reply shadow23. Could give a little detail?
Is the process I described correct? And how about the disc being like the original to play on Xbox live in the M$ Dash?

Thanks,
chewy

Well I have games on my hdd. All my originals are in a cupboard, I usually put the games staright away to my hdd. And if I want to backup a game I just ftp it straight from my xbox hdd to my PC and burn it. I use Qwix too.

Playing on LIVE All I can say is make sure that you have your chjp turned off! Now being the chipped turned off means that you won't be able to play ANY backups!

Thanks shadow23.

I remember reading that somewhere... that backups can't be played on Live or the M$ dash. So much for that sad.gif

I'm off to experiment and backup a game from my HDD.

btw... off topic wink.gif but does anyone know if I can change my username? I looked in edit my profile but didn't see anything. tomnclaudia just doesn't roll off the tounge like chewy would laugh.gif
