iv only just started to try and see what the modded xbox is capable of, i have always wanted to make it a snes emulator as i have snes9x on my pc and its great but not the same with a keyboard. on the pc all the roms i have are .smc files, they work fine but are still smcs. i have seen .rom files but never used one, does it matter if im playing on xbox if its a rom or smc? (using snes 9x x)

Well, you will usualy only find the SMC filetypes. IIRC *.rom is an n64 extension. But I'm not sure. To make the long story short, or to make the short story even shorter: IF .rom is a valid SNES extension, don't bother with it.

thanks a lot for that i have tried it out using the smc files and it works like a charm im loving playing killer instinct agin after a decade. man when you say it like that its a damn long time!
