I know another damn noobie question. I am sorry but I would really like to get my system set up so here goes.

Xbox v 1.0 modded
pioneeer 105 dvd burner
working copy of evox 2812
Slayers ready to go
New network card installed connected with RJ45 crossover cable
current internet is 56k msn but switching to DSl in less than 1 week

I plan to use the slayers but want to back up the original settings first. I followed the tutorial and set tcp/ip to 192.168.0.1 and subnet to 255.255.255.0

on the evox system network page I see:

type - (nothing)
IP 0.0.0.0
line status 100/full duplex
Ethernet MAC address whatever
Setup network yes
Use static IP No
IP 192.168.0.2
Subnetmask 255.255.255.0
default gateway 192.168.0.1
DNS 0.0.0.0
DNS 0.0.0.0

I am aware that it is a settings problem, as I have read other threads and am unable to ping my xbox?

I was wondering if since I have 56k dial up if the settings should be different or what. I would appreciate any help and will help others as I become better at this as well. Please reply. beerchug.gif blink.gif beerchug.gif

Ur on dial up? Yeah... I think I have played you at halo on xbconnect haven't I? anyways. You have to set your xbox's i.p 1 different than your computer... they can't both be the same. Also make sure you are getting link lights. If you are not then you are using the wrong kind of cable. Use straight thru if you are using a hub and a crossover for direct pc-xbox transfers. Also I'm pretty sure if you ever say you saw your xbox's dvd player in your burning software again I'm gonna make it so when you boot up your xbox it does nothing but show slideshows of barbera streisand and it blares her music.... cuz basically that was the dumbest thing I've ever heard. (What it shows in your recordnow software is that is can burn true xbox isos. Like GDFimage.)

I took that part out.

I changed the value to be different by just 1 digit and still no luck.
I have a crossover cable from network card to xbox.

Also, I have not played halo on xbox live since I don't have xbox live. You have me confused with someone else (another lost noob lost likely)

Any ways, still can't connect to xbox to ftp.

Hey there I also know the pain you feel , so I will try to help you
1st change your ip on xbox to 192.168.0.1 and subnet 255.255.255.0 , remove the default gateway on the x box and change the password to something simple

now for the pc
ip 192.168.0.4
255.255.255.0
default gateway
192.168.0.1

Ok this has worked for me over many time with many different xboxes (Friends and I run a small biz) any way this is our default settings for every one that we do . if you haveanymore probs contact me at modsquad777@yahoo.com

First....what version of windows are you using? This is for Win98

When i first started I had the same damn problems with the ftping. This is what I did:

Xbox Settings

IP: 192.168.0.4
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1
Static IP: Yes
Setup Network: Yes
REMEBER TO SAVE THE SETTINGS!

Use a crossover cable....so you dont have to deal with a hub/switch.

PC Settings

Go to Start Menu - Settings - Control panel - Network. Under Configuration, scroll the box untill you find the TCP/IP protocols and the hardware they are binded to. Double click on the TCP/IP protocol for the ethernet adaptor you are using. set the IP to 192.168.0.10 and the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0, which means you must UNCHECK Obtain an IP address automatically. the click on the gateway tab, and install 192.168.0.1 as a gateway. Reboot and ftp with Internet explorer or any other FTP program.

Let me know if this helps
