ok i know this has almost nothing to do with xbox's but this is newb chat so it dosn't matter. im buying a psp from a guy here (x-s member) and im paying him 110$!!! now he says he gets them for free from his dad or somehitng like that and has 13. now he says ill have to send him the money directly, now that sounds fishy to me but he does have 2 or 3 good refs, anyways if i send him the money through mail is there a way to get it back? if he just decides not to ship the psp.

that does sound too good to be true. not to say anything bad about a member i dont know but i would not trust it.
however if you are willing to try to get it tell him that you want to make the transaction through paypal. they have systems set up to get money back if you can prove that you got scammed.

then he'd be out $55 instead of $110
if the offer is legit, ask him to ship first....i can guarantee that he won't tho

I agree with you. This would at least give some assurance that he is legit. But I would also stress using paypal or a legit escrow service.

why would he bother selling for $ 110 when he can easily get $ 200 for them ?? like others have mentioned, ask him to ship first. don't send half / half - not worth it.
or get his address and pick it up. no matter how far the drive.

Get his address and stuff and hold his family hostage if he tries to stiff you on the psp.

Mar 29 2005, 02:19 AM
Tell him to use an escrow service like escrow.com if he agrees then do it, if not walk away.

Let me tell you a life lesson young one...If an offer or situation looks too good to be true, then it definatly is.
When presented with 2 lesbian women for a threeson I declined on this very principal and guess what...one had herpes. See, the rule stands.

i did. would you all let me add you as a ref then tell him how many refs I've got, then maybe he'll believe me and ship first, if he's telling the truth.

That really ruins the whole ref system. I've done half payment til I receive product several times before. And it seems to work out ok for me. Internet deals are very tought though. If you have any reservations dont. Risking a hundred bucks simply isnt worth it.

I wouldn't keep them as refs, just to see if he's legit. if anyone else asks they could just say that i never sold anything to them.

I'll escrow it if you want. I've a good rep and done tons of repairs. He sends me the PSP, you send me a check made out to him When I have both I cross ship.
If the gripe is about the cost of escrow that solves it, as I won't charge anything (though someone will have to pay me for re-shipping).
Other than that I understand people being shy about sending stuff. While I usually require gear in hand before I pay, it's also because I'm buying dead boards and need to appraise them.

Make him sell it to you over Ebay. That way, if it really isnt a PSP, you can file a complaint and bust him up.

C'mon, don't be so gullible, the guys trying to scam you.
PSP's are goin for $350.00 on Ebay. If I had 12 of them to sell do you think I'll settle for less than half the amount of what I can actually get. Hell NO!
How long has this guy been an X-Scene member? These scammers usually arrive on forums as new members, scam who they can, then their gone without a trace. They love running scams that cost around $100.00, cause people usually give up without a fight for that amount.
Don't be their next victim.
