Hi,
I'm new at these sorts of things and did something stupid.
I have a softmoded xbox and unlocked the hd.
now it wont boot up anymore.
guess I should have read up before doing something like that..

But whats done is done.
how do I lock the hd again?

I still have the original hd if it helps.
but I would like to fix it without loosing everything on it.

is there anyway to enable the lock again without redoing everything from scratch?

note: i bought it modded.

edit: would it work to plug in the original hd and hotswap it for the new one.
maybe a bad idea... if it doesn't work im screwed.

plug in the original one, back up your eeprom, use xboxhdm to lock the drive with that eeprom. there are tutorials on how to do these things.

If you have a backup of the eeprom containing the original Hd key, then you can put the hard drive in your pc and use Xbhdm to lock it again.

thanks for the fast replies.

So I have to plug in the original disk and use some exploit to run some tool (like evox) that can backup the eeprom from the hd?
idoc
would i be possible to boot evox from a cd and back up the eeprom that way?

You can't boot from unsigned xbe's if you're using a softmod, so you'll have to use the above mentioned methods.

Ok thanks,
I'll probably try UXE tomorrow.
I hope I don't screw that up too..

One last question.

can I do this?

hotswap the original disk to the pc,
use hdd-driver to save the eeprom to another disk,
extract the password from eeprom,
replace the original disk with the problematic one and lock it using hdlock?

Or must I softmod the original disk aswell?
