Although I am sure it doesnt work, the email address scheme at MS is first letter first name, then last name @MS.com so it would be "bgates@mi crosoft.com" (take out the space) Someone go try it and see if it gets bounced back.

The interesting thing about it is the fact that MS licenses some patents from a privately owned company, owned by suprise suprise, Bill Gates. That's another half a mill a year or something he recieves that isn't listed as part of his pay. I didn't bother to look for other things like that, but I'm sure there are more things like that.

They don't suck, they exist with a good purpose. I doubt you'll find half as much support for linux/*nix as you can for MS software.
Not to mention nasdaq generally moves in the same trends as MS, so it's important in the stock market also.
Most people who dislike MS are just envious, or anti-capitalistic, which in that case they don't count anyways.

Care to clarify what is a "load of" with regards to what I said? Your dislike of him most likely isn't merited whatsoever. Or is it cool to hate him for no apparent reason?

Indeed, some people have too much animosity to Bill Gates for no reason.
It isn't as if he was the person who wrote the programs you're currently using.
As a person he does many things that benefit people who aren't as well off as him, good to see him not let all that money go to his head.

A lot of people have very good reasons for not liking M$, I won't bother going into them here, since loads of you are M$ fanboys. read some of the STufF at www.fuckmi crosoft.com (without the space).

AS for Linux, I'm not a linux user, but because it's open source, there is potentially infinite support from the vast user-base and the people that make/modify the software, aswell as linux help pages.
Also, most of the websites you look at run on linux servers, so explain how it's "gay".

I know why many people complain about MS Windows ™, however I have been using MS Operating Systems for a fairly long time, and I stick with quality computer parts. Because of that, I don't tend to run in to 99% of the problems other people do.

I also use linux, freebsd, solaris, and a few other oses so my views aren't exactly biased.

As for webservers, apache is the leading server, however that isn't just linux. That includes it running on all different system types. By the way, being open source and having a user-base doesn't mean the product has support. If you need a person who can subscribe to mailing lists, patch the program, and figure out the problem on your time, then the TCO of using said "free" system will go up.

I don't like M$ because they have some rather unsavoury business "practises" and the products they produce aren't that good. Yes, I use windows, but I have to, I need access to things like PhotoShop and Flash and I can't afford a Mac, so I'm stuck with windows. Although I am looking into using Linux and running WINE.

Anyway, M$ products and domination, also the recent increase in trying to take over people's information are the reasons I hate M$.

Everytime I've had a question about linux I've been able to get an answer within a day on a mesage board, I can't say the same about M$ software. I would've though that the more people you have you know the software from a technical perspective and who are actually involved with it, would mean a larger support base.

Linux is far away from being a replacement for desktop systems.

Data recovery in win9x woopie. FAT was designed that way, it isn't a major flaw in Windows, but the filesystem format that's been around since DOS. Using ext2fs (linux) you can also recover deleted inodes. Nothing special there.

As for your Linux problems, that is because you're asking simple questions. Like what people ask in the newbie forum. Run in to a serious issue with the kernel of linux, and many times there will be very few, extremely busy people who understand it.

Domination is a partnership between people that don't know better or don't care and a corporation that are set domination, not one that just wants to be successful.
