Can someone explain to me if I can softmod an unchipped xbox with my modded X3 box. For example, I can take out my existing harddrive and put the stock in there. With the X3 chip you get ftp access, unlock and lock harddrive and ability to rebuild and reformat drive. Please let me now any additional info to help or files needed for me to softmod.

You can set the drive up with all the files but you cant lock it cause you need to get a password from the unmodded xbox's eeprom. You can flash the unmoded xbox eeprom to match the modded one I think.

do you know what files is needed or what file package and versions needed

the easy way is to "edit on the fly" in configmagic
load it up unlock orig HDD, change HDD key the same as new xbox
power down, put in new HDD with chip on then setup drive (softmod) and lock it, test with chip off, put in new xbox.
then put old HDD key back and relock old hdd (10 min later done)

i assume you know how to get the EEPROM from the new xbox
