when i saw the main character jump...i turned off the console...

Yeah I think you need to give it a try!
It was my 7th game - after DOA3, JSRF, Halo, Cham Manager, Amped and Moto GP, and one of my favourites, so much so that I'm a bit put off by the total change between it and Stranger, but there's so much hype about it I suppose I'll ahve to try it sometime.
