ok I ran that command program and selected my cable provider and the program got 7 days worth of shows but when I put the listing.xml file into my XBMP directory (it was about 4MB) But when I run XBMP and choose listings it only shows the channels and where I assume the shows are suppost to be it's blank.
Anyone had the same problem I think it's a config.xml problem but I couls be wrong.
Thanks in advance

I can't give you a solution, but I am having the exact same issue.
I don't think it's a config.xml issue, because the TV Guide just looks in the XBMP home directory for the list.xml file.
Also before anyone asks. Yes there is show data in the list.xml file.

Having the same problems.
Even with a days worth of programs it still hangs.
What could be the cause of this problem, a bad listing or is it program bug?
Currently have the
March 18, 2003 10:10 version?
btw is there a way to set the number of days to download the guide.
i had to edit the listing.xml

you can use the --day <number of days> flag
example for 2 days worth of US listings
| CODE |
| xmltv tv_grab_na --day 2 > listing.xml |

Just to add onto this thread: I was wondering what the biggest sized listing.xml file anybody has gotten xmbp to parse. Trying to figure out how many channels/days I can add before the xbmp crashes trying to parse the listing.xml.

If you start up the tvguide from xbmp, and you do see the channels listed but you don't see any show information, then it's most likely because you never set the date on your xbox, or you unplugged it after setting the date so it got reset.
Look at the date in the upper left corner, and compare it to the dates of the listing you downloaded. If they don't match up, you won't see any shows because you're on the wrong day. You can set your date/time from the MS Dash.
As far as the maximum size of the listing file, you definitely want it below 4 meg I think, below 3 meg is pretty safe.
Currently it's being developed to allow the listing file to be arbitrarily large, but this will come in a later release.

i was going to saiy the same thing as mshade and he is right the most common problem with that is
1. the app. hangs because your listing is 7 days and 5mb (try 3 or 4 days mine works with 4 days )
2. your xbox is out of date/time causing you only see the channels and not the programs because you dont have any data of the date your xbox is

it hangs for me when i go over 5 megs... my cable provider only has 80 channels, so under 5 megs is actually 10-11 days of schedules, which is pretty awesome...
