Anyone know the function of the X,Y and Z drives on an Evolution X build Xbox. Trying to cram as much as I can till I buy my 120GB but see these drives as a waste of space. Are they possibly used by the box as a disaster recobery space or could you use somthing like a partition magic equivalent (if one exists) to resize them down so as to make E: bigger. If not, how can I retrieve the space from these drives.

Thanks in advance....

I just noticed recenty that either the Media Player i had installed or possibly some game created some files on my Y drive...there might be some use for it, i dunno.

X,Y and Z are used as temporary storage by games and applications

They are a cache. Your xbox needs them to work.

The X,Y and Z partitions on your Xbox HDD are partitions where temporary files are saved.
That means the Xbox stores game files on those partitions to load your games faster.
The Xbox will automatically delete the files on those partitions,so there's no need to delete them
yourself.

I wouldn't recommend making those partitions smaller,as they were created by MS for a purpose wink.gif .

Thanks to all for help with this one. I suspected it would be something like this, but good to have it confirmed. Excellent, Cheers!!!
