Hi, I used to have an x2.2 lite, but i flashed a bad bios and i never bought the programmer, instead i just got another Xbox cheap and soft modded it with ltools. They are both xbox v1.1's and both have the same type of hard drive. naturally i cant just plug my old one in, as it dosnt have the hacked bios files and still has the old evoX dash saved. My question is, what is the best way i can get into my old drive/ revive it without having to use a mod chip? can it be done?
once again
xb hd1 - softmod bios patch
xb hd2 - no patch with evoX <- i want to get into this one.

the box will just crash. unless the hd is unlocked some how before the error screen. I dont think i really have a way to get my hdd password. i have all my old stuff (hd mobo and everything except the ps, but i have a 1.1 ps that i can take out. so the question is, does the hd get unlocked before the error screen that detects that the dashboard is not correct? please dont leave a 3 word answere, its not going to tell me anything.

look for some hotswapping tuts. The answer has been given twice. Now the rest is for you. There is a search function on this forums and also pinned topics, tutorials and guides on hotswapping.

please explain. I understood that the hd needed to be unlocked before it could be swapped. could you at least tell me the correct tools to use?

OK,
Open your xbox. Unplug the ide cable from the dvd. Yes, that's right. Boot the xbox. When it errors out (from the missing dvd drive), the xbox is (usually) unlocked. Hotswap into your PC and use xboxhdm to fix the c:
