Hi everyone, I am a complete newbie here, so please forgive any errors I make in my descriptions. I installed the X3 mod chip in my XBOX, it is a version 1.6 so I also had to use the rebuild board. I had a whole lot of trouble with this, but I finally got everything where it would turn on and come to the flashing Bios screen. By the way, I am also installing a new harddrive at the same time. Anyways, the problem I have is that none of the controller ports seem to work at all. I can not move in the menu for the flashing screen. Has anyone had this problem before? Any ideas what the issues might be?

Thanks in advance for the help,

Brad

Make sure the controller ports are plugged into the mobo fully. Also make sure you are using the dpad and not the analog stick, and if you can use ms branded controllers.

yeah, you have to use the MS controllers cuz the other brands won't work with flashbios

I am using the origional MS controller that came with the XBOX. I also tried something else last night, I hooked the old harddrive back in and booted to it instead of the chip, when I did this, the controllers worked just fine, so it seems to only be a problem when I boot to the mod chip. I've used a circuit meter and traced all the solder connections through the board to make sure they are all making. I don't think I have anything bridged anywhere, but the controllers will only not work when I boot to the mod chip. Can this type of problem happen from problems with connections or could it be a bad chip?

I had the same problem, It's happened to many other people, The solution is to borrow someone else's controller or use the ms dvd player remote.

Also, some controllers work if you unplug them then plug them back in.

So your soldering and everything was ok? I did plug the old hard drive back in and boot to it bypassing the mod chip and the controllers worked fine. When you say borrow a friends controller, are you saying because it is a MS controller or just because it is a different controller than mine?
