Hey all,
I was recently given a VIP Industry invite to E3 and I have decided to act on it and go

I was wondering if any of the X-S crew was going to be attending the convention and if so maybe I could tag along so I don't feel so damn alone :'( I have my travel already bought and paid for but I can't for the life of me find a damn hotel near the convention center with vacancy

maybe someone who accidentally got a double bed room might split the bill? Or even getting together and making a general combination of funds to get kickass rooms nearbye the LACC??? I know it's a long shot...just worth asking though.

I'm sorry my friend but E3 is 18+ only. Since 9/11 they have been DAMn strigent with the security and they truly do give your ID a serious look over. Unless your ass famous you will be carded and that card WILL be checked thoroughly for authenticity.

Why would your age matter with 9/11.Since it is adults who committed the crime, why punish the youth? And its a video game convention (i think i dont know much about e3) how would being younger than 18 be bad?

Maybe it's because e3 is mainly a convention to get work done and not have 15 year old kids running around?

Apr 28 2005, 03:45 AM
That is exactly it.... no babies or jackass kids with sticky fingers, it's more than reasonable. It's the premier US video game show, not the circus circus arcade.
Any luck yet, Dangerously?
My group is going to book hotels soon....

Your age doesnt matter "because of 9/11". The age limit is 18, and has been, but because of 9/11 they actually check IDs. Its not a "video game convention" its an industry tradeshow.

Well, I have a few things happening atm...I might be meeting up with another group of people if no X-S peeps are gonna meet up and bunk up OR I'm going to shell out $500 for a Bev. Hilton room...meh. I haven't recieved anymore industry invites so that shows me they aren't going to give me anymore and so that's that but if you're still goin to E3 and want someone to buddy up with I'm all ears to that idea

Im sure their excuse for people needing to be 18 is that there are "mature" rated games

I wish I could go, one of these days when im a little older maybe.
If I had those passes it off them on eBay. (or is that against their policy now? I know they got a lot more strict about selling game accounts?)

There are tons of these types of events occuring in the UK...mainly Sony SOHO events etc but I wouldn't have the slightest clues for you as far as attendance.

correct me if im wrong, becuase i am talking out of my ass, but i thought E3 is just about the latest games, and it doesnt really give the hardcore details (if any) about xbox2 that we want to know, so whats the point of going?
unless your interested in games, but i thought it would be more.
thanks

E3 is an industry trade show event. It is to display your current line-up/technology and try to get partners or even investors interested. It is a general "Show and tell" of the industry and what it has to offer for the next year. It has NOTHING to do with the general public really, this is truly for the industry workers and those that give money to the industry workers lol...

Everyone thinks E3 is like a giant playground. I attended last years and a couple years before that, you must be 18 for various reasons, as stated it is a "trade show" and you are expected to conduct yourself in a very professional manner. There is drinking and very important people there and most are there to conduct "business". You know networking, mingling, seminars, and just other business B.S. Now dont get me wrong there is tons of fun and excitement to be had but it is handled "mostly" in a mature business attitude. And it is not taken likely when people get out of line you will get put in place quick! And the most fun is always in the late night when the companies and vendors cut loose and the sponsored parties take place. But thats why they are extremely strict on the guidelines and age, shit theres very rich important people everywhere and they dont want any issues. Its fun as hell but if you are supposed to be there for a reason it is work also!!

ima cut the person that says people like me being 15 cant get into a place like that. I am responcible enouph and fat little german kids have sticky fingers i take very good care of my xbox and other electronic items. Such as my tazer and my elctro gun

...and your out of whack imagination.
If people under 18 were allowed.. it would just end up like an arcade.. instead of the best industry trade show in the world.

Sorry I'm new here and found this discussion. I'm sort of in an odd position and wondering if anybody could help me out. I have a preapproved pass to get in (won't exactly state the specifics)...but i don't have any proof that i am part of a "interactive entertainment industry". However I am over 18. Are they really that strict...any ideas? I have a type of ticket called "industry invite" would this make any difference? Any help is greatly appreciated.
