WIP Build 560 is out.

Change Log:
*Changed width of music player to accomodate extreme overscan
*Fixed FTP client. It should now be able to connect to other xbox ftp server. Also tested with Serv-U
*Music player will continue to play the selected file from file explorer even after exiting/hiding the player.
*added right thumbstick to control the bottom-right corner when doing screen calibration.
*Updated UnRar engine to 3.40. Fixed a few issues with extracting archives as well since there were changes in 3.40 engine that affected the unpacking code.


Build 559 and up is now using a new live update script. If you are using a version earlier than 556, you'll have to do live update twice. Once, to get 559, and another to upgrade to 560. Again, you can't use 556 or 557.

Edit:
To those doing the manual upgrade, check the URI, or try live update again, I did a minor change in the web engine. Can't say it fixes the issue, but it's worth a try.

I'm trying to update from 559 right now, but the download just stops seemingly at random points when downloading. Then an error message says that the file may be corrupt or damaged.
I'll try updating from an earlier version if this problem persists...

It seems that the problem may have been caused by my router. Either way, after my last try it downloaded like it should from 559, so no worries .

FTP client seems rock solid with all servers I've tested so far. I like the way it just switches to PORT if PASV is reported to be unsupported by the server. Details like that is what makes UnleashX great.
Music player also displays correctly when the picture is scaled to my TV

Region switching still doesn't work with M8/+ BIOS versions. Could you comment on that James, so I know if I should stop reporting it? I'm also interested in knowing if it is even possible to do with M8 without altering the EEPROM.

Tried connecting to Xbins through the file manager and it worked Only problem that cane up was that the Transfer Queue window didn't show. All I had was the two windows. Here a pic



I did put something in the Transfer Queue and that is how it came up.

Seems like you put a cd or dvd in your drive and recognised, but cant play it from the disk.

I've tried playing a few XMVs in the file manager but after a while you were longer able to play any more. I checked the XBOX info (Y) and found that I only had 1538 KB memory free. Does UnleashX not release memory (I understand that it's not a media payer ) or is this a bug? You can try it if you have Street Racing Syndicate since that has tons of XMVs.

Sorry 'bout that. I have yet to take a look at M8, but from the look of things, it wouldn't be easy. It has been noted, though.

You are using a custom background for the file manager, no? You can force the border to be drawn via the skin file.

Maybe I should force the border of the queue box, what do you think?

Sorry, I couldn't quite get what you mean. Are you talking about auto-play?

This is currently a known issue and I've done considerable amount of testing on it, but haven't found anything yet. Video screen saver doesn't do that, but it happens in the file manager. It is the same class, yet, it happens. I'll check it out again.

Yes, it was a custom skin. Forcing the border of the queue box I think would be better. Unless your intention now is that the file manager can have two images, one for regular (2 windows) and the other when you are connected through the FTP Browser (3 windows). Most skins would need to be updated for those with custom file manager skin though.

Also, I tried it with the Default skin and everything worked fine but I noticed something when selecting that skin. Pressing A twice wouldn't save the skin, only Start would.

Since I can't edit my above posts anymore, after a couple of times changing skins back and forth, the file manager and ftp browser display fine if you are not using an image for your filemanager.

i couldn`t test the new 560er build, but i want to report 2 ugly "xbox2xbox ftp-bugs" here (only tested with 559, but i think it is still there).

1. i have a 0kb-file, that can`t be transferrd! always get an error while trying to get it on the other box. both boxes running build559!

2. files with german umlauts also break the transfer. i have some german movies (dumm und dümmer, face off - im körper des feindes) and mp3s (from the great german band the ärzte), that always get stuck when transferring. the umlauts aren`t displayed in the file explorer... (it shows up as "dumm und dmmer")

transfer all these files with avalaunch is no problem...

hope this can be fixed for final release, as there are many german users with german named files...
i will test the 560er release and see, if its in there, too!

okay, i tested the 560er build for xbox2xbox connection. first the good news:

- the 0kb-error is gone for me!
- umlauts-error is (nearly) gone. i can transfer the umlaut-files, but i can`t delete them on the other xbox after transfer! i transfered the file "dumm und dümmer.avi" and on the ftp-window it shows "dumm und dmmer.avi" like it was in the build 559 also on the local side.

now the bad (really bad) side:

- i can`t transfer folders to the other xbox! i only can transfer the files on its own. both xboxes freezes, when trying to transfer a folder! (the other xbox uses avalaunch 49.3 as dash). this is a prio1 bug i think hope it will be fixed soon. i will switch back to 559 as this is a feature, which i use very often.

can someone else conform all this?

hi! i dont have access to the WIP builds. my experience is based on build 543. please try the "download skin" feature of the current build. i always have problems when selecting multiple skins and then downloading them with the start button. it always crashes in the middle of the operation. i would really like to see that fixed.

connection was possible before on u-serv ftp-server. what i can`t get to work (also on the 560er build).

i packed h-drive and d-drive from my pc in the accessable folders for my u-serv ftp-server. homedirectory is d:\
on this setting i can`t get to h-drive bei clicking the ".." to go one directory up. maybe there is a function in u-serv that my homedirctory is "root" so that i can see both drives at the beginning...

Hmm ok I now have build 561 and the bug I reported here about the filter flicker still stands the same even though you said on the 559 thread you fixed the problem. I will re-paste my bug from the other thread here.



EDIT: Just tried to select the default skin and it still won't let me confirm it. See the post I made in the above thread for more info about the bug.

You need to press Start on that one. Pressing A twice wont work.

Pressing A twice works for me. Are you sure the screen saver isn't on when you press A the second time (it would be 30 seconds after activation before it fully dims down)? Because if it is, A and Start will be discarded.

All that happens, in my case, is that it doesn't treat the second press of the A button to confirm. It seems to select it again and the screens stays on the skin selection screen instead of closing. My screen saver is set for 5 minutes so I doubt it would come on while selecting a skin. It's only on the Default skin that this happens.

EDIT: Just to clarify, I was just confirming the default skin bug and not the flicker filter/screensaver bug.

So you don't get the filter flicker bug? Hmm I wonder why that would be. It is just kind of annoying because it needs to be on 3 for my tv but it goes slightly blurry when I go from 2-3.

About the default skin, I am absolutely positive that the screen saver hasn't come on because I have it set to play one of Jezz_X's awesome video screen savers (could we get a dialog like the media player file selection only for screen saver vids; that would be so nice ). So I know that the screen saver doesn't come on. I will try later tonight to see whether the start button helps but right now it works just as isaac_24 has stated.

EDIT: Just tried the start button and it worked fine. Rebooted and the default skin was in use. Must be a bug with confirming with the A button.

When ftping to ux, and with the led-colours turned on, when my screensaver comes up (a xmv) the screen just goes black, and then upon completion of the transfers (both up and down) the video is played quickly to 'catch up' to where it is supposed to be, then slows back to normal speed.

These LED colours are a great idea, i turn my xbox on (without a tv) and transfer stuff, so now i can see what it is up to...

This is a very stable build as far as i have been testing it...

Haven't had much time to test due to finals in school and working all the time but ran into a bug with 651 when trying to autoupdate to 562. It would download the update and as soon as it finished, it would give me an http error and take me back to the dash after it said a server error. I rebooted and tried again and got the same result. I have a 1.0 4983.67 TSOP box. I don't know if this will happen in the next WIP build or anything, but it's just something wierd that happened to me.

I had the same problem, but when running autoupdate through 0.36.0620A I was able to update succesfully.

Would it be possible to get a WIP 561 -> 562 update list so we know what is different from our WIP versions?

The current update file for official public release is not compatible with WIP, or build 559 and up. I have yet to upload one that is compatible.

The difference between 561 and 562 is very small, technically. 562 contains very, very minor fixes compared to 561.

I'll see to it that a compatible Build 562 package will be uploaded towards the mid/end of the week. Or maybe a new WIP build that has the changes I posted in the official public release thread.

Yes, that is possible, though I think it's never mentioned in the change log for the public release.
"./", ".\" = Root of Xbe. Example: If UX is in C:\, specifying ".\Apps\myApp.Xbe" is equal to "C:\Apps\myApp.Xbe"
"../" and "..\" should work too.

Please do give it a try and let me know. That particular code hasn't been tested yet.

i have unleashx.xbe in root c. translation is stored in c:\Skins\_translation. i setted .\ and ./ for the c: but both doesn`t work.

Oh, are you doing skin stuff, or language file?

For skin stuff, the root (".\") is the Skins folder. For everything else, it's relative to the xbe location.

You might want to post your xml here so I could take a look.
