If you are worried about getting the wong hard-drive just order the exact ones you have been getting from newegg. I'm sure they have them.

I'm not sure about the specific hard drives that work with each chip but as a general rule of thumb you need to definitely make sure it is IDE or EIDE. Don't get SATA or SCSI drives! Upon installation of the drive you need to set the jumpers to Cable Select. I know there are some good tutorials on this site somewhere.

I've been using that modchip site for about a year now. No complaints besides the cost of shipping. It's about $8 for a chip. But delivery is fast and prompt.
