I was wondering if anyone who has increased their stock case fan voltage to 12v from the original 7v has had any problems. My concern is that the power supply may not be rated high enough to maintain a larger current pull. Also, is the stock fan rated to accept 12v? If not, could I expect to be replacing it over time due to the added stress of higher rpm's?

Thanks for any INTELLIGENT and INFORMED responses.

I'm just a newb trying to not to fry his Xbox.

xbox fan is rated for 12 but they put it at lower voltage because of noise, you will notice when you turn it up it will get very very loud, that is why most people replace it with a 10 dollar or cheaper 80mm fan for better airflow and less noise. the 3 pin connecter can handle it because it is meant to change speeds, i noticed once when i have my 80 mm fan on it and it wasnt blowing hard enough, when the xbox got too hot it automatically raised the fan speed

i had no problem doing it, the easies thing is to tape it to the shielding or under a screw
