May 3, 2004 rmenhal joined X-S and made this astounding 1st post!
There are many God-like members here, but by the end of 2004 we likely *all* 'worshipped' rmenhal as the omnipotent one!
Let us not forget him and thank him for what he's done for us ... here's to rmenhal.
(I hope this thread will become a virtual shrine for members, old and new, to do likewise.

)
_______
Footnote: it seems he also left a treasure for us to unearth ... only time will tell if it (
Ndure) was our destiny!

Were it anyone else, I'd probably wander off muttering about slightly worrying obsessions, but for rmenhal...
Massive thanks man, and I'm sure that those who aren't echoing the praise here have either missed this thread, or are somewhat uninformed ;p

I celebrate the pressence of the "guru's" everyday.
I'm an idiot
I just spend a lot of time reading and learning the hard way.
Regardless of whoever made something really cool, made a tutorial easy enough for me to understand, etc etc.
I salute all of you.
(and when trying to return the favor, I'm aware that all my knowledge comes from other peoples work, and if I'm able to answer (well ... apart from a thing or 2, grin) the poster of the question should be able to get the same knowledge just from reading ... )
(knowing that some info is pretty hard to find, still keeps me answering, don't worry.)
Cheers to all of you. Yes ... you know who ....

Agh! Fucking forum. Spent like 10 minutes typing and it all got deleted...
Now thats a pain in the ass!
Anyhow, I just wanna say nice work to everyone who has donated time and effort to the softmod scene! rmenhal, nice work. I wish everyone would code such bad ass programs, instead of just wingin' it with C++!
Back in the days...man. Might have less newbs if things were still like that!
Slow ass BIOS patching.
Constant flow of shitty hard drive tools.
Endless parade of buggy font hacks that newbs insisted to use.
A good audio hack that stupid newbs never used.
A thin line to tread between EEPROM safety and corruption.
Live updates totalling your XBox.
Constant need to sign and patch files.
Incompatibilities with other XBoxes.
Well back then it didn't seem as bad, lol. With no major installers there was alot less newbs. The few screwed around and managed a dumb font hack install that was always a good laugh. Nowadays newbs are so stupid with the advent of autoinstallers its often I hear something on IRC like "i installed the itools dashboard 4 my xbox now it say something about games where can i download games please hurry i wanna show my freinds huyuck". Sad, but, at least it shows amazing progress.
Either way, with how slick the tools are now, whats next...?
Edit: ...Jesus I need to get a hobby besides working this eternal struggle to help people. I joined the 25th of September, 2002, and all I've really done is that Action Replay guide and the XGuides Wiki, hehe.

...I don't blame you. I started cutting back heavily on my posts here because too many n00bs ask the same fucking questions--it's sickening. There are 3 things they need to do before posting here--read the pins, search, and read the readmes of the apps/installer/etc they want to use.
Hmz to stop the bitching; could anyone point me to that wannabe star trek quote starring rmenhal as the borg? "All your xbox belong to us" or whatever
i've been wanting that in my sig for about 4 moths but i cant find it anymore!
Anyway,

to rmenhal specificly and all other developers working towards a "one button hack".

where exactly is rmenhal, and how is he doing?
I would love to get to know a few stars of the xbox softmodding scene, like morden kaiken, i think thats how you spell it, anyway, he was an AMAZING guy,
the likes of angerwound, morden, ldots,rmenhal......sniff sniff.....where are they all????

of course, we have a few stars still, like pedrospa, i remember, he would start a thread, ask a really conufsing questions, well to me anyway, and many pages after that thread, a new exploit would be found lol.

Lol, eventually a new exploit would be found...
More like a giant ass thread, some confusing questions, people struggling to understand, more confusing tech chatter, a long period of silence, then suddenly a quick post with the files.
Somebody needs to design a translator for this or something. There is no way in
hell I can understand how anybody figures that stuff out. I have to read over 60 posts just to understand what you're trying to exploit!
Although you guys talking to eachother on IRC or something (I have not a damn clue) doesn't help, since there's big gaps in the forum posts. I didn't know what the hell Uberdash was until I finally flipped out and I think devz3ro told me.
So, keep 'er up. I wish rmenhal was still around (He'll probably pop back in with some new tool outta the middle of nowhere some day). Of course, I have no idea what cool-ass hack he could make that he hasn't already!
Stupid rmenhal-based facts,

I still have never done a xbox softmod. I wonder what it is all about? I am just too busy to read the threads pertaining to it. I know that there are two or maybe 3 ways to do it. 1.) UDDAE 2.) Save games exploit.
3.) Bert/ernie font exploit.
I think the way you execute it is using XBOXHDM? Correct? I may just do it for fun now. I know ther are thread and have even bookmarked them from over the years. I just never got around to acutally trying this out.
I thought that this exploit was the work of Ndure Protanganist, Kingroach, Krayzie, and Daddy dj. I never knew who Rmenhal was. I guess I got into xbox hacking too late.

It's May 3 again. I would like to list rmenhal's main legacy on this day:
a. Ndure
b. nkpatcher 11
c. PBL Metoo
d. UDDAE
For this year, I'll also list rmenhal's lineage, ie his predecessors and peers in his era, the list is not exhaustive. I consider that he did not work in isolation and his work would not be possible without their earlier work and other contributions during the same period. Have we ever remembered the work of these pioneers?
a. Team Xbox Linux
b. Members who worked on the big font exploits.
c. Mordenkainen and audio exploit.
d. devz3ro, PedrosPad, Angerwound UDE, UDE2, UXE
e. Tomilius Frosted Bios Loader.
f. Krists Krilovs nkpatcher VGA support.
g. Paul Bartholomew nkpatcher LBA48.
h. Ndure Protagonist. IMHO , without him there will be no Ndure.
i. The softmod package and tool makers. Krayzie, Kingroach, ldots
j. xman954. He continued enhancing nkpatcher 11 after rmenhal leaving of the scene.
k. DaddyJ, Textbook, Ricecake tutorials and techniques.
Of course, there are other heroes whom I have missed out but they contributed in their own ways, ie chimpanzee, BluhDeBluh, dus etc
Happy rmenhal day to all.
