i installed an aladdin advance ice chip (its white) into my 1.6 using a combination of intall guides and diagrams, and when i tap the on button the box trys to boot up then crashes and flashes red and green on the eject light. if i hold the button down for a couple of seconds it loads up the flubber xbox thing with evox in the top corner but crashes before any bios is loaded. wat do i need to do? is because i havent formatted the hard drive yet with evox or is it something else?
otherguy
if you see the flubber and the evox logo in the corner - that IS the bios... so there is a bios loading. If the box is not working with the chip disabled you've most likely done damage to the xbox's motherboard.
If the hard drive currently in the xbox is not setup for use with an xbox, then you will need to boot off of an evox disk and rebuild the hdd. If this is the case you should be getting an error 13 in the top corner after the large X logo is displayed.
Chancer
Unsolder the D0 and BT wires and make sure the Xbox still boots ok without the modchip. If it doesn't then look for damage around the lPC or a problem with the rebuild

no error code comes up and i uninstalled the chip and the xbox worked fine and reinstalled it and it does the exact same thing...?

sounds like you need to go over your installation. something's not right. without pictures i can't troubleshoot much more.
The hard drive is setup for use in an xbox correct?
dekoms
no i havent done anything to the hd yet, it is the original xbox 1. is this the only problem then?
otherguy
no, this is not a problem. you had said earlier:
QUOTE
i havent formatted the hard drive yet
. I was under the impression it was a new drive. This would explain why no dash would load.

Since this isn't the case - it's strictly an installation problem (most likely). Get pics of your install. I wouldn't be surprised if we could tell your problem after seeing the install ourselves.

the link you gave me to www.fixnchipz.co.uk is the diagram i used to install. i used an lpc rebuild on the bottom side to connect all points. after this i connect bt and l1 on the alternative spots and the d0 from the lpc rebuild to the d0 point on the chip, is there a step i have missed?
otherguy
how about them photos...

i fixed the crashing problem. i hadn't solderd the pin headers properly so now when i turn it on it loads the flubber without evo x in the corner, and when i hold it done for a couple of seconds it loads with it. but after the flubber it goes to the normal xbox menu. does this mean the chip is installed right?
dekoms
i cant get the pics anymore sorry my flat mates using the comp for an assignment im on the university comps now.

Sounds like everything's installed correctly. You just need to install a dashboard. Get Slayers
