I just got a free Xbox with a broken DVD drive, and im trying to figure out how to fix it. When I press the eject button, it makes a whining noise, and the eject button flashes green. It doesn’t eject, and after several seconds, the light goes back to solid green. The Xbox is working perfectly otherwise. I opened up the DVD Drive to look at it, even though I didn’t know how to fix it, and the gears line up, and it seems to look fine, except that I noticed when it is “closed” or in the position its stuck in, I can push the tray in, but then it pops right out. How do I fix this?

THANKS

PS: I got the Xbox from a family friend, because she knew that I was modding Xbox’s, and she thought I might be able to use her son’s broken one.

There is no way to fix it? I don't want to put much money into it, plus, if im going to spend money on it, i would rather just put in a chip, and a bigger hdd, and if i want to use a game, put it on my computer and FTP it over.

It's probably a Samsung....very common for doing this. Try cleaning the drive out...and good luck playing any xbox games by putting them in your computer and ftping them over.

what?

Should i try to force it open? The people who had it before me tried, and it has some scratch markes around it biggrin.gif but i coudld probably get it if i took apart the DVD Drive. I thought this was an easy thing to fix...

Remove the whole drive and clean it piece by piece. You will never be able to stick a xbox game in your PC and FTP it to your xbox...at least not an original.
