Hi, I installed an X3 on my xbox and also a 120gb hdd. I then later had problems with my xbox so I sold it and bought a new one. I installed my X3 again. I then tried to install my hdd but remembered that I hadn't unlocked it. I also did not make a backup of anything so I can't retrive the key to unlock it to use in my new xbox. Is there anything I can do? Thanks

You can use ATAPWD.EXE (a dos program) to unlock it with the master password..If you used Evox or Configmagic to lock it then the password is most likely TEAMASSEMBLY.

Just hook up your hard drive to your computer and put atapwd.exe in a windowas 98 boot disk and then launch the app to unlock the hard drive.

I used the xecuter 3 bios to lock it. Is there anything for this? Thanks

To put it simply - you're in a deep shit.

There's a small chip (8 legs, smt, from atmel) on every console's mobo which is in some way responsible for the locking/unlocking of the drive each time you power up/shut down your xbox. AFAIK it has the codes.
Therefore, if you change the mobo and leave your hdd locked, the only way to use the hdd on a new board is to replace that chip with the one from the old mainboard.

There was/is an article somewhere on x-s in the tutoirials section about it. (I think under 'HDD replacement' category)
