If you just like Metal you might not like this but have a listen, it's a remake I did of SF2's Guile stage music.
If you do like it and want to use it I can always make it shorter if needed, it doesn't fully kick in till about 2 minutes in.

We have made a lot of progress...
2 very good artists have stepped up and modeled some great shit... our Ryu, Ken and new Freddy look amazing.
For anyone wanting to start modeling you should use 3DS MAX.... the height of the players in max is done using 1 unit = 1 inch...so the average fighter should be about 70 units high.
Animation is done using a Biped (character studio) applying the Physique modifier to the mesh... (more details on animation will be released soon when the animation list is finalized)... so for now just model your wanted character. (Come to #a-shock on efnet and tell me what you want to work on, so everyone doesnt go model Goku and find out it was a waste when we have 50 of him heh)
The level design is still being finalized, acidbath has come forward with a design so i'll just work with him until we decide on how the level format will work then details will be released.
The fighting engine itself is coming along nicely.

It's still going. Beters and giantnewb no longer help. Rickz0rz also disappeared. UIX graphics guys (acidbath and gasclown) are giving us a hand with scenery. Antman is doing some really cool models and textures now. Parlance comes on IRC and disses us.
Shiznos PC died once again. Looks like all the source and art is safe though. Got a new power supply shipped to him and he'll probably get some more parts next week.
The AI is in place, it plays pretty well if not a little cheap.
There's XML config files for most stuff so balancing is a little easier, also fun to create special moves by jamming the code for two of them together just in the XML. Multifireball spin kick was one that shizno hacked on.
I'd say the game is much farther along than the other unfinished projects ever were. Shizno will get it rls'd sometime.

Looks good but I'm sure they would rather original stuff and not graphics taken from free web template sites. I came across them years ago when first looking for help to make a website.

Hey Shinzo was I correct in thinking the combo system was going to be like street fighter? are you gonna give it a alpha combo which is a chain of buttons weak medium and hard then special. maybe with super cancels?? Also if you are planning that kinda of combo system (which is cool by me) are you going to limit the damage of the combo after a cirtain amount of hits like after 5 hits lower damage of hit there after..
I just want to note Streetfighter Alpha 1 Is the best of em all.
Also do you have a list of characters?? Not including secrets ones.
what game modes will there be?
Will there be a two on two function? Or tag battle?
Will there be keayboard and mouse support

just kidding (making fun of Quake three thread)

ATM it plays exactly like street fighter 2, only with 3d background/characters...
i have yet to implement supers, but it should be just like EX, with super cancels/combine them etc...
2 on 1 and 2 on 2 would be nice huh

as for characters im not sure who will ship with the game...but atm i have Vegeta, Ryu, Ken, Freddy, Wolverine all fully playable.... Vegeta and Wolverine look awesome (modeled by the great Antman_3d)

ive been kind of lazy. actually i was waiting on Antman to finish Scorpion so i could work on some spear physics/shit and was working on a net tetris game while i waited... the game isnt dead, ill get back in the groove sometime

Why not make the camera kinda lean just a tad behind the defending character when they care forced in a corner. I hope you understand like if your kinda feeling the pressure of the attack. or make the screen kinda jumble for power attacks "special moves". are you planning like groove meters? I'm sure you know what I mean. not all stupid like 6 differnet but maybe 3. This game could be an innovator for ideas of other games. or maybe slow down and shaking screen for knockdown power moves. kinda like when ryu does the super uppercut move damn that thing is cool.
Just throwing it out there. Believe me i dont care what you do if it plays like sf series. its all good to me

SHiZNO if you want a model i could model one or twice for you, i havent much time to spend modeling but if you wat i could do it. I could do only the modeling not text no anim because im working and i have a low machine U_U and havent any photo software to create good text.
there are 2 models i have made this afternoon in the job Xd
Models photosThese are very simples but thats the only thing i can do here, this 2 models have animations.
i could do things much better but thats the only photos i have here at work U_U, im modeling a mazinger z robot i could put some photos of him if you want Xd.

right now 3DS is the only program Aftershock has an exporter for so that's the only program to do the final steps with. editing the mesh polys with maya is fine, you just have to do all of the texturing with 3DS 7. They don't have the exporter for 8 yet.
Get 3DS max 7 and learn how to UVW map. You can read
this tutorial. The pics have been lost to the AOL internets god, but there might be some usefull info for ya.
Otherwise google uvw map tutorials for 3DS. I found one with a shark that helped me out a lot.

Here's the link.As it stands now, fighter needs to have only one image for the entire texture job. It's kinda hard at first but once you do it more and more it gets easier.
