Last week bought new game. Attempted to burn to HDD. Selected copy to F: nothing was copied. Went ito settings and saw hdd locked?

Unlocked? Was I supposed to do this?

Now, booted Xbox w/out chip. I got error code 5?

According to my reading:
5 - kernel - HDD not locked (retail bioses require the hd to be locked)

So how do I fix this? Where do I go?
What is locked and UNLOCKED?
What is Hdd key?

Ok - From my EvoX - system tools: there is a
"LOCK"
and
"UNLOCK"

Why? What does that mean and or do?

To launch m$ dash from boot up, or to play via Live, the Xbox hdd requires to be locked, in it's unlocked state with mod off, you will get this error. Those options you saw on evox, will lock/unlock your hdd for you, with the click of a button.
