my friend messed up his xbox by flashing his tsop with a 256k and now it wont boot at all
its a black screen with flashing red/green eject light
ive been thinking for some time now and i cant fugger out what he could do to get it working agian
i know a modchip would probly fix it but he lives across the contry so i can just go over and let him use mine and he aint got money for one himself

i was thinking maby he might be able to boot a cd and flash the tsop that way but im not sure that the cd will boot cuz i dought the dash is

any ideas of how he can get it working agian?

if its a 1.0/1.1 and he flashed with 256k as you said he can try the three wire trick (check my sig)

do you know what version his xbox is? what bios he used? what app he used to flash? (evox, raicnaot, eurasia)

its a 1.0 he used 007 trick and ind-bios 5001 custom
and his tompson drive is messed up it will barly read

evox resizes th ebios, so its unlikely you just have 256k flashed, its probably a flash gone bad, or the bios was corrupt

if the 3 wire trick doesnt work, youll probably need a 29 wire modchip to fix it, or an LPC modchip to leave in

i just now found out that he dident have a fan on his gpu so i had him take that step by step thing to determan what box he has and it came out as a 1.1 so is there a way to still do this he says thows solder places arent there

does evox really resize the bios? i didn't think it did....i'll let somebody else experiment with that though

Yes it does, I accidentally flashed my 1.0 with a 256k bios and it resized it. I wouldn't recommend it, but I know it works.

depends on what kind of bad flash, in some cases the three wire trick can work, or using evox TSOP d.6 on an LPC modchip can work sometimes too

the only sure-fire way to fix it is with a 29-wire modchip such as the xray3

uummmmmm my friend got that to work today but now he gets a error 5 (his hdd aint locked) is there any way to manualy lock the hdd?
if not what are his options?

unmodded xbox? i dont suppose he has a copy of his eeprom.bin, if not he'll need a modchip (just long enough to lock the HD, then the chip can be removed)

if he has a chip its probably not enabling, check the d0 wire

if its a TSOP flash your guess is as good as mine, unless he flashed a retail bios, then see option 1

softmod? see option 1, but in this case he should have his eeprom.bin

orange/green means there is no av pack installed, but yours is probably red/green, which means simply "bad flash"

its doubtful the eeprom is erased, and any LPC modchip will bypass the TSOP and allow you to boot with the bad flash, but you wont be able to disable or remove the modchip

ah, well its proably a good flash, but you flashed it with a debug bios, which i dont think can run on a stock xbox, youll need a 29-wire modchip to repair, or use an LPC chip and forget about the TSOP

well if he flashed the TSOP its not a softmod, lol

if his HD is unlcoked he can get to it, just use xhodm (or soemthing liek that) on teh pc to get the eeprom off the drive, then lock it with xhdm

then boot the xbox, and reflash the TSOP with another bios

i believe xhdm has a FATx browser built in, so he would be able to sue that to get to his eeprom liek it was on anarmal xbox HD

Wait.... did you use the XDK recovery disc on your Xbox? I'm not too familiar with it, but I believe it wipes your harddrive and blanks your eeprom, which could be part of the problem.

As far as XboxHDM goes, the basic process is to unlock the HDD (option 3, then do unlockhd -a), reboot, use the xbrowser or the xboxhd programs (option 1) to put whatever files are missing on the HDD or rebuild the whole HDD. If you're TSOP flashed, then you won't need to relock it, but you should probably go ahead and relock it anyways (reboot, option 3, lockhd -a)

Ok here is on for you guys,
softmodded 1.0 xbox, went black when in XBMC. then i got the green for 2 sec then flashing red for about 8 sec reboots and does the same over and over. tried EVERYTHING i even bought a Xenium Ice chip solderless and nothing. the chip's OS doesnt even want to come up. and ideas? will the 3 wire trick work (what ever it is)? any help thanks.

sounds to me like thats eather a bios xbmc isue or you have got a messed up copy of xbmc did you get it in the slayers pack, if not try geting a stable version from the usal places
