ok i ftp avalaunch.xbe to my box, i opened it and when i went to games, applications, and file mageger everything froze!
When i reboot, im back on avalaunch!

?you are using avalaunch but want to switch to mxm?
if so then you need to transfer the mxm files across to your xbox hard drive, and update your bios so it looks for mxm, otherwise you will always go back to avalaunch.
