Here's how to get SA to run from the hdd: (This Applies to EvoX users only)

1. From the EvoX dash, select System Utils.

2. Select settings.

3. Scroll Down until you get to the 'Misc' Header.

4. Find the 'TSR' option.

5. Press "A" until it reads "Disabled"

6. Scroll down to "Save and Exit" and press "A"

7. Restart your Xbox.

8. Play GTA: San Andreas!

Good lookin out for the fix. Do you know why some games are like this and need this fix? Also can you tell me waht I just did, and if I need to change it back for other games?

Thanks again
MANHUNT
Hmmm, I did not try it that way. All I did was diable all of the IGR (In Game Reset). In total there are 3 and it worked fine biggrin.gif . I will try that too, Thanks.
GH0STce11
The TSR setting is for using Trainers thru evox.

I guess R* doesn't want you to use trainers in their game. This is really more useful with online games.'

So if you ever plan to use a trainer in another game, you need to set it to normal.

Where are the locations of the 3 igr's
MANHUNT
I am not at home now, but just scroll through the Settings and there are 3 of them, just disable them all and it should work perfect. The same thing I remember happend with Playboy: The Mansion.

Alright listen up guys. Turning off your systems TSR might work for some, but for myself and several others this was not the problem. From your evox dashboard, scroll down to system settings and enter. Scroll down and find the "In game reset" options (there should be three of them) and make sure all of them are switched to "No". Scroll down and save your setting and reboot your system. Load up GTA san andreas and it should work fine.

Hmm, i only have one IGR, and it's on, and i can still run the game.
What version of EvoX do u have?
CarCrashClutter
Just like I said in the other topic, I was able to get mine to run off the HD by using the original XBE, not the patched one.

TSR fixed the problem in my case, my evox only has one igr setting which is on. left on it will still boot but in game igr will not work at all. Maybe someone has an idea about this? It not crucial, but would be nice if igr worked. Also a friend of mine has an older xbox, it wouldnt even read the disc in his case, and no attempts to boot the game would work(reboot box with disc in drive, look at game disc with file managers) so an hd backup was not possible. Should be able to ftp and get by but it would be nice to know what is the problem. I didnt have the tsr information at that time so I dont know anything about his tsr settings. His dvd drive is the oldest I believe tho. Thanks for any help.
zayski
Hey guys, I couldn't play my backed up copy either but I followed your instructions and disabled all 3 IGR's and now it runs smooth, thanx for the help. This was the first time I actually used the forums for help and it worked out great.

Disabling TSR also disables my in-game reset. Is this normal? Is there a work around for this?

UPDATE: I got it to work without changing any TSR or IGR settings by simply changing my region code to NTSC. It was on "default" eariler I think.
failurbydesign
Hey what TSR? and how do you do in game reset if the TSR is diabled
ofaravilution
thank you all! i can't believe i forgot about IGR. i've heard of people having that problem before, but I forgot about it cuz i've never had to disable it for any game. thanks again!
KyesaRRi
If you want IGR to work for ALL games you are going to have to use a BIOS with the COMPATABLE IGR in it. The EVOX m8 has it aswell as the iND-BiOS, thier the only bios's that i use, but id say there are others that use it too.

im gonna bet u didnt SAVE AND EXIT...everyone says it doesnt work and then they realize they didnt press SAVE AND EXIT, Don't press the back button, that does NOT work. Make your changes, and go to SAVE AND EXIT, and if those changes dont work then you obviously should try a new combination. Just try combinations until it works. There's not that many combinations, so if u tried them all it wouldnt take more than 10 minutes.

The disabling the TSR worked fine. However the trainer won't work with the TSR disabled
kevinlekiller
For me I have to use executer 4983 bios ; the 4981 didnt work neither did the ind 5001 and 5003 nor the evox m8. And it booted with mxm, evox unleashx on the 4983.(I had to turn off tsr in evox).

Thanks this worked for me too. I tried to disabled TSR but it still would not load (exits back to the evox dash). Since I want to use the trainer, I'm not about to turn TSR off. Thanks, mate!

Changing the TSR option worked for me!

Thank you, now i can get on with my day biggrin.gif

ok, i had this trouble at first. i did the the TSR option and it worked, but i couldnt use trainers. so i tried changing region to NTSC and that worked with the trainer...but here is the strange thing...i have it hooked up to my 24" flat screen non-HD, non-composite tv and the game plays. but i hook it up to my parents 52" projection HD tv and the game will not play, it just keeps booting back into evox. i tried changing all kinds of options then, but it wouldnt work. i can leave the settings like they are and it will work with one tv, but not with the HD tv uhh.gif

Guys, I have a completely different problem. I have ftp'd all the files to the comp and made an iso of GTA:SA and then burned it using Nero. It burned fine, and when I play the backup onto the XBOX, the evox screen just comes up with a msg saying UNKNOWN for the disc type. HELP ME PLEASE, it also did the same thing with Wrestlemania 21. Not sure why its doing this all of a sudden, usually works fine.

Also I have copied GTA:SA onto my HDD, and it seems to work just fine, and im playing without any hassle. But i want a hard copy of it. Can anyone help please?

You obviously did something wrong. Use Craxtion 4.0 and try it again. Make sure there's a DEFAULT.XBE in the root or it'll show unknown. I once made an XISO of one file, default.xbe of Doom 3, because my NIC stopped working and I couldn't FTP in to upload it. In Evox it still showed 'Game' as the disc type.

Also, you should have a hard copy of the game already, you know the one you bought at the store? tongue.gif

By now most people would have read this thread, so i'm unpinning it. Nothing a search can't find if they need it tongue.gif .

uh yeah, i got my game to work by changing the TSR to disabled, but i cannot get the trainers to work (may not be the right section), also what is TSR because for some game if its on normal setting it lags the game, (kinds like a movie thats not buffered right) basically just runs really slow....and then my trainers for other games dont work....is thee any fix for this or do i just have to change it depending on the game i want to play?
sunbound
What TSR stands for (from my understanding) is "terminate and stay resident". It allows programs or other things to start and stay in memory in a "ready to go" mode... basically sitting their till it’s told to do something.

I’m by no means an expert, but I’m thinking it might slow down the games because it takes up a little bit of memory. Some games would use more memory then others, and I'm assuming the games that are slowing down with this enabled use more memory than the ones that don’t slow down.

Back in the "DOS days, I used to have a game cheat program on my computer years ago that you could custom make cheats with. So if you’re playing prince of Persia, and you have 4 "marks" of life, you would hit the ~ key, and the program would open. You would tell it to search for the value of 4, and then go back to the game. When that value goes up or down, to either 3 or 5, you would go back into the program by hitting ~ and type in what the value is now. It would search for what lines in memory changed. You could then edit this line so the game would reflect 20 marks of life, or you could freeze it so that you would never lose life, or gain life, etc...

That’s an example of a "terminate and stay resident" program.

OK, I had the same problem, all i did was change my video mode (in evox settings) to "auto" and realized that my game is a PAL version. so all i get is a black and white screen moving up and down. I do have an NTSC modded XBOX, but no tv/monitor to display in PAL mode. Is there any patch out there to convert PAL->NTSC? please help

NTSC xbox and PAL game? WTF?

I'm not going to help you because it sounds like piracy. dry.gif
saikohayn
oh sorry mybad. im running a v1.6 north america NTSC XBOX, xecuter 3 chip, m8plus bios, evox dash. The game i bought off of ebay was a pal (i must have misread something, bad bid). i cant get it to work in color. hope this helps....
saikohayn
would an NTSC default.xbe solve this problem?
wadata04
Yeah, I think it does, I have a PAL game myself so I cannot help you out with getting the NTSC .xbe.
saikohayn
Good news... I managed to get an NTSC default.xbe from a friend. Now I can play in color. This post is just to let all of you who had the same problem as I did, know that switching the PAL default.xbe with NTSC default (vice versa) works.
